Thanks for your comments! It really is encouraging to read. Cal, I'd love to see the pics when you get a chance to get them up. The army doesn't seem to large when you only see a few formations at a time! :)

Ghudra: Well, I think I've painted enough fists to practically be able to paint them in my sleep so there's probably some uniformity as a result of that :) 3500 points of my own fists, plus probably twice that at least from Cal will have that effect :)

Ulric: I do like that older marauder much better than the new models. Out of curiosity, does anyone have a size comparison with them, the new GW ones, and the FW ones?

the new models look cool

I'm back with the update for the week, My first Skitarii Demi-century is finished though I think I'll adjust the color scheme a bit on the next one. However, I won't be doing them for a while yet since I want to use this coming week to get the two praetorian servator detachments worked up. I see them as being much quicker than the last century and I need to figure out how to distinguish the tech lord from the tech priest on this one.

Those are amazing Vaaish where did you get the bits from, I can spot a DRM sniper in there I think.

Thanks! I'm actually thinking of changing up the color scheme on the second batch a bit to add more red to some of the cloaked models and to make the tech lord look more like the illustration in the collected visions book.

Mage: as far as I know none of these are DRM. they were sculpted by a guy here of taccmd a while back but I'm just now getting around to working them up.

I've finished up both the Praetorian Combat Servator detachments. They just need to be varnished to knock back the shine a bit on some of the washes but I found I was out of the gloss varnish I use as my protective layer and I don't want to jot hit them with dull coat since these are game pieces. I'm trying out a bit different color scheme for the tech priests in the command stand to see if it works alright for the Tech lord's skitarii demi-century. Unfortunately these models seemed to lack detail on the back side and some ares were a little rough plus they didn't really lend themselves to any nice freehand bits on them. As combat servators though I think they turned out quite fine. I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from painting this next week to finish out some projects that were on hold the last couple of days but then I'll be back with the last of the land raiders before tackling the last of the skitarii.

Thanks, I can try to give a rundown on the bases but I don't think there is really anything groundbreaking going on, if you will pardon the pun.

Looking back over some of my original IG troopers and Marines I painted up I've noticed what seems almost like a decline in the quality of my bases so these praetorians were an effort to rectify that issue. Since I used the warmaster bases, I had to glue the models in place and then add greenstuff around each to blend the edge of the models base with the warmaster base. After this I just washed with PVA glue and sprinkled some find gravel and sand around on them (I use a special mix of this called found in backyard). The bases were then painted black and then a watered down layer of scorched brown completed the feel. After this I dry brushed with graveyard earth, then a light one of vomit brown in places. Next I watered down Dark flesh and dabbed this randomly over the base to add some variety to the earth tones. This was followed by a light wetishbrush of codex gray over some of the larger rocks and a very light drybrush of white over the grayish areas.

Then it was on to flock which is pretty straightforward. Coated the base with PVA glue in areas then sprinkled on woodland scenics fine turf. This was followed by a few bits of their spongy underbrush to make the larger bushes. That was prettymuch it.

Very cool!

Any chance of a couple of high-rest versions of the AM infantry as well as the servitors for NetEpic?
