Hey guys,

I've been playing Dirtside II for a while, focusing mainly on 'realistic' future warfare. So lots of heavy armour and powered armour support with only a few people using light or regular infantry. Since getting back into Epic I've been thinking about adding Mechs to my DSII games and the Reaper CAV range has been brought to my attention. I'm not really interested in the ruleset though as I'm pretty happy with DSII and it's mechanics.

So I'm after scale shots of the CAV Mechs against 6mm minis... Umm, maybe an Epic Warhound or Warlord? A ruler would be great too.
I'd also love some comparison shots of the Heavy Infantry against 6mm infantry... I'm thinking they might be just the right size for Infantry walkers.

Thanks heaps guys

Cuban Commissar made some good comparison shots here. Post #54 shows a CAV Ogre and Gargant. Onyx also makes use of a lot of CAV stuff, IIRC. I'd run through his "Some of My Armies" thread. It is a bunch of stuff to go through, but the IG and Skitarii in particular make use of CAV. Mostly AVs and Flyers though, not Mechs. Not sure about the Infantry.

In my humble opinion, the very light CAV walkers can pass for large 6mm walkers but, the larger CAV walkers are going to look a bit out of scale.  Unless you're looking for something huge to play as an oversized, super-heavy.

I have lots of CAV pics at the links in my signature block.  There are a few pics in my blog with models from different ranges.  Scroll down until you see the tags on the left and click the CAV tag.

Cheers guys.

AnthonyR, thats the plan. Giant Mech combat. I'm planning on not even having infantry or armour support till I've properly worked out how the mechs fit into the system. It'll all be various sizes of Mechs with some small walkers in support.

My UNSC for instance use the Bulldog (like in your dp  ) which will be a great start for supporting the larger Mechs... I'm thinking one Super-heavy, 2 size 5's and half a dozen Bulldogs at size 2. Once I'm happy with how the over sized Mechs run Ill introduce armour and infantry.

And thanks for the link Sarge. There's some great stuff there

It looks like picking up the starter pack is a great way to pick up a few good looking mechs cheap. Might give the rules a spin afterall. Any opinions on them or should I just stick to DSII?

I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping some of their weapon packs would work for a scratch built Basillica, but alas, theyre MASSIVE :)
