Tom was kind enough to post comparison photos of multiple walker types on his blog yesterday at my request. Does anyone use the DRM Velite/Verger models as proxies for the GW Dreads? The DRM models are significantly larger than the GW ones (and with a different look, but I'm thinking Chaos here - possibly older, less efficient, more malignant designs...), but they have a very good look to them.

Opinions?

I like the DRM dreads, here you can see one of them:

IMO GW dreads are too small, and DRM´s too big  :glare:

The GW dreadnaughts are very oversized compared to infantry than their 40k equivilents. The FW Grey Knight dreadnaughts are truescale and so much smaller.

The GW Dreadnoughts are already too big, so the DRM proxies are *far* too big.

The GW Dreads are much bigger than they should be from W40k, see a comparison with a FW GK Dread which is the proper size:

That said though the other dreads you show are pretty huge they do look the part, so do as suits you best.

those DRM walkers might be useful proxies for adeptus mechanicus Forge Knights, or are they to small for that?

That's not a bad idea. I wonder how they compare to Paladins.

They're significantly smaller. The Mantagen/Mantragen are about 10% taller, and those are just too small for Paladins in a Knightworld army.

However, if you're using the for Forge Knights, without any comparative issues, they'd be ideal. I'm a big fan of the DRM lines.

I figure that since the forge knight is more lightly armed, and don't have a shield its quite fitting that it is smaller than the knight paladin. heck its a armoured vehicle compared to a paladin which is a dc1 war engine

I too like the DRM proxies. Very nice!
I was personally disappointed when my FW GK Dreadnaughts arrived...these fellas were too small IMHO and fragile. I always liked the now ancient SM box art depicting dreadnaughts towering over their battle brothers, so having a dreadnaught be a little too large is not a problem for me. Since few models exhibit true scale anyway and are at best approximate I'm OK with it...remember the old super heavy tanks being described as being as large as a city block? Not even the larger FW Baneblades fit that description! I chalk it up to Imperial propaganda.

"As large as city block" soulds more like a Capitol Imperialis description than a SHT one.
