Not sure on the giant rats, they kinda make the marines look tiny tiny 28mm people rather than normal sized 6mm people.

This week so far has been productive. Have got my Plague Bearers and Folorn Hope finished.. Got some more counters done (broken formation ones. I had the Blast markers done for my Epic GT army from a couple of years back).. And now I'm over halfway through the Terminators.

Managed to finish the Terminators.. YAY... though they were much harder than I thought they would be.

Next should really be the Havocs

but I think I need a break from infantry so very well might get one of my Death wheels done.

Managed to get the base white and brass on the first 8 stands of CSMs and the Havocs.. Almost finished converting up the last 8 stands of CSMs, and spent a nice evening getting the Rhinos converted

Image

I love working on Base tanks and adding lots of Nurgle bitz.

Now I'm staring at lots of models which I've got to get painted before the end of the week. It's a bit daunting.

Been working hard to get things completed. Finished converting and basing the 2nd CSM Formation to go with the Rhinos.
Spent quite a bit of time converting the Aspiring Champions, lots of whittling down plasticard into horns and spikes, head swapping out the heads of Khorne Berserker and replacing arms with claws off Daemonettes.

Image

The second formation of CSMs, has been undercoated with black spray, then the marines undercoated with Vallejo 70998 Bronze, I'm starting to really love Vallejo paints, never used them until I stopped working for GW, but the Bronze is really nice to work with. After the Bronze, they have a coat of the Classic GW Brown Ink mixed with some 'ardcoat and water. The white plates were then picked out with Vallejo 70971 Green Grey, a colour that was just designed for painting Heresy Death Guard armour. Finally they have had another coat of the Ink-Ardcoat wash. The coat of Green Grey is actually one of the most time consuming parts of the scheme as you have to be really careful to get it put on really cleanly.

Image

After this stage I move on to the Trim and the cleaning up the plates. First I painted the Trim with Orkhide Shade to give me a base to work off. I then painted the plates again with the Green-Grey, this time I'm not trying to paint the entire plate, I want to leave part of the washed area around the edges so it's much faster than the original coat. The 2 stands at the back are up to this stage.

I then paint the edges of the shoulders with Camo Green and the highlight with a Camo Green / Green-grey mix. After this I get pure Skull white and highlight the plates which brings us up to the stage the front 2 are up too.

With the Havocs I've based them with 4 heavy weapons to a stand, I know they only get 2 shots, but it makes them much easier to pick out, I've also added mussel flashes for this reason. The heavy weapons are made from a mix of the Heavy Bolters and Converted Noise Marines from the new Chaos Sprue.

Image

It's all moving along nicely. and I'm feeling more confident in getting it all done in time. I've set myself the goal of getting all the infantry done by the end of the week.

Image

Which means all I have to do in the last week is one more Deathwheel, 4 Gunbeasts (to represent Oblits for the moment, they will later go into the LATD army I'm working on next) and a 3rd HellBlade to go with these 2

I've been getting on quite well on the basic marines, should be able to get most of them completed in the next couple of days. Needed a bit of a break so converted up the first 2 of the gunbeasts I will need for the army.. Of course with my obsession with Rats they needed to be hugh Rat-things with big guns, hearded on by Nurgle Beastmasters.... ROAR... DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA.. SQUEEK.

Undercoated the second CSM formation with the Rhinos. Added rust across both units. Dabbed Dark Flesh followed by Vermin Brown, which is a nice starting point. Still need to add chipping and washes. Wanted to finish the Grey Green Coat on the Second Formation, but started getting painters cramp, so converted up the last two gunbeasts. The only thing left to convert is the final Hellblade, but I've got it's base done today, unfortunately I don't have any of the correct brass rod so I have to go out hunting some tomorrow.

It's been a little while since I last posted. I've been batching out all my infantry, so there hasn't been much to show however in the last couple day I've actually managed to get them finished.. so here are some of the basic Chaos Marines. Still need to edge the second formation but should have photos of them up in a day or so after as the Enamel takes over a day to properly dry, however it shouldn't chip.

These are my Havocs had some fun with Lighting Effects

Image

In Epic each side places Objectives, as I'm on schedule for having everything finished by around Tuesday, I'm going to make some Objectives to go with the Army.. This is the first of them, They are just fun to make, grabbing random 40k bits and altering them to frak with the scale.

Managed to finish the last formation of Chaos Space Marines, So that's all the basic infantry complete. So I can have a nice relaxing weekend, all I have left to go are the 4 Gunbeasts, 4 Rhinos, Hellblade and a Death Wheel. I'm quite far through the Gunbeasts and Rhinos so they will be done before the end of the weekend.

Image

I've also finished the final stand for the Hellblades. They are on really tall Brass stems with magnets at the top so I can swap them easily onto Aeronautica bases.

Image

Also got another of the Objectives finished. I'm thinking of making some kind of pit with Tentacles and swarms of nurglings pouring out of it. I might even make some kind of platform with a sorcerer summoning...rising out from between the nurglings, we will see.

Finally in the home straight, just 2 more models to finish and they are quite a way through. I've also started working on my last Objective. It's going to be a fanged warp rift with a tongue lolling out of it and a Plaguebearer stepping through into a carpet of nurglings, It's already quite far through contruction, but it's going to take a while as I have to of course wait between coats of green stuff.

Yesterday I finished the Gunbeasts and Rhinos, which completes 3 more formations so I've taken some photos of them too. I really like how the one with the Chemical Weapon came out, the photos really don't do it justice. anyhow, I'm going to have a small kip and then get back on with the Deathwheel, Warp Rift and last Hellblade

There are still quite a few layers of Greenstuff to be added to it. lots of fine detailing to be done around the maw, suckers to be put on tentacles etc.. The plan is to use water effect to make a liquid effect to the actual gateway like the STARGATE, but in Blood, with the Plague bearer stepping through.

Last model done, this one really worried me, I had painted 2 planes for the unit ages ago and when I undercoated them the spray went on funny. It actually looked really Nurgly when painted but the inks acted very strange. when I came back to painting the 3rd plane ofc the spray worked properly so I though it wasn't going to match the rest of the Army. Luckily due to the fact that the first 2 aren't exactly painted the same with slight differences the last one looks fine with the first 2.

Finished the Warp Rift Objective so I've got everything I needed to get done done. The Photo doesn't quite live up to the model in the flesh, the colours are much more vivid and it doesn't really show the transparency of the slime.

This is a sneak peek of some mutants.
