I think this was already shown, but what's the scale comparison to the FW IG superheavies? I'm thinking about the possible use of this for ordinatus conversions.

Uhm, yeah, I can't remember where it was posted. They're about the same size as the SG Super heavies, ie. a bit smaller than the FW models.

A small update from the workbench: Speedpainting some Eldar for NetEpic Gold. If my schedule is to hold I'm going to have to paint these up in the next week or so....yech... Did I mention how much I hate painting Eldar?  :p

Oh the models are excellent. Especially those Superheavies (which I admit I am looking a bit forward to painting ;) )

The trouble with Eldar is that I'm doing these old school with white undercoat and very bright colors... which isn't as forgiving to mistakes or sloppy painting as a black undercoat. Also the Eldar army has such a huge variety of models, such as Aspect Warriors) which means you pretty much have to change painting technique for each unit type. This makes it a bit trickier to get a unified overall appearance. You could achieve this through basing, but the only thing I hate more than painting eldar, is doing bases :D

Anyway: For these o far:

All models: White undercoat.

Vehicles: Sunburst Yellow basecoat followed by a wash of orange (in this case red/yellow mix, but the color is fairly close to blazing orange. I've also used thinned down snakebite leather on a few models in the past, which produces a subtly different more subdued effect.

Walkers: Wash of devlan mud, followed by a drybrush of white, followed by a wash of grypphone sepia.

Update: Added some highlights to the Stormserpent. Compared to the scorpion, it forst get a layer of thinned down sunburst yellow and then added about 5 highlight layers for that smooth highlight finish on those flat panel lines. Takes ages to do, but the result is a very warm and vibrant yellow.

A side note when painting yellow: For a more vibrant yellow, very little of the piece is actully yellow: After shading and highlighting not much of the basecolor shines through. Obviously this means you got a much more dynamic range of color, which really makes the yellow stand out. Try this even on very small pieces like black/yellow chevrons on titans, Adeptus Mechanicus or Iron Warriors. If I got a 1mm wide band I want chevrons on I first paint it the basic yellow, Then add maybe 40-50% orange shade at the botom and 30-40% highlights on the upper half.
