Well the smoke has settled and my Adeptus Titanicus induced hangover has subsided so I guess I'd best let people know how it all went!

With a total of 14 players in attendance the day started with a few late runners trying to find the venue (I'll see if i can find somewhere easier next time) we kicked off the fighting at 1030 to the smell of fresh coffee and biscuits with games throughout the day going relatively smoothly and on time all around.

From what I'm aware everyone had a great time gaming and many new faces showed up helping to bring together tourney circuit regulars, taccommers and new gamers in and around bristol together in a friendly based playtest tournament to kick off the year with competitors fighting for this booty of community produced prizes (not a single GW provided prize in sight!):

First place wins a small walking robot, second a zombie robot euro dollar and four non ordered nashorns for 3rd place.  Two Golden Gorgonzola's to go to judges and players favourite armies with special 'suprise' prizes for most sporting and the coveted (and somewhat elaborate!) wooden spoon!

After much fussing and fighting (of the fun kind) the scores had been worked out and the victors emerged...well...victorious!

Player Name Game 1 Game 2 Game 3 PaintingSportsmanshipTOTAL
EdgarSan 32 29 32 22.5 24 139.5
Yme Loc 26 29 18 22 24 119
Greg        32 16 14 22 24 108
E&C             32 3 23 23 24 105
Zombocom        26 32 0 22 24 104
Hymirl   1 26 29 20 24 100
Steven Davis 3 32 18 22 24 99
Reedar        29 16 9 20 24 98
Ginger       29 3 15.5 22 24 93.5
Jon Mielcarek 6 0 23 22 24 75
Rob Bennett 0 14 9 23 24 70
Darren Pugh 0 18 3 22 24 67
Glyn G   0 6 29 0 24 59
Christoff 6 0 3 23 24 56

And i even got to play in the 3rd round with my tyranids when Gavin had to take a break: I played against Jon and It was a great game too!

It was brotherly love for players and judges best painted when E&C and Zombocom won the coveted Gorgonzola's (like they need more!) for thier loving crafted Krieg and Dark Eldar armies and that lovely lad Reedar was awarded free entry to an Epic UK tournament of his choice for winning the most sporting vote off of all 3 players that he took on! Finally Christoff (Quase from Belgium) despite his lovely looking orks had the unfortunate honour of taking home the wooden spoon but was further vindicated by being given a long OOP Eldar Exodite rider (donated by Glyn) for his efforts; if we see it on ebay we'll be hunting him down with a big proddy stick: you've been warned!

So, all that leaves me to do is to say a massive thanks to all the players and others who helped organise the event and that I hope to see you all (and more) same time next year I guess...I personally learnt plenty about running tournaments and welcome any feedback that people might have via PM or email...any comments and thoughts on the scenarios we played can be directed towards the relevant Total War threads.

Thankyou and goodnight!

A most excellent event and well worth the bleery-eyed drive up and back to Bristol!

I hope someone got some pictures of this army in action as the infantry in particular made for a beautiful sight.

Hear! Hear!  :agree:

A fantastic event.
Dont change the venue as we have saved it in the tom-tom now.

Gavin's experience might argue elsewise.

As a first EA tournament experience it was awesome!
Everyone there I spoke to said they really enjoyed it and having the chance to play after and having my Warhound run over by an orky tracked contraption was too much fun.
I also had the pleasure of having my army IG eaten by a large Nid swarm and on over active Dominatirx  :)
Unfortunately I ended up in most of the photos. I'm the odd one trying to stay out of the pictures on the right hand side with the glasses  :oo:
Thanks to the ryan/MoK for organising and giving my and Glyn a place to crash after we missed the last train and to everyone else who turned up! :sign1:

Can't wait for the next one :)

Ramming Speed!!! Yeah, that game was frikking awesome!  :grinning:

You know it’s a truly epic game when a dozen titans are destroyed by the end of the game (plus a handful of smaller war engines) Pics to follow in a few days...

Good to see you about here too Steve! MrPurple is a good friend and gaming opponent of mine of about 15 years or so (hmm that makes me feel old) and we've recently got back into playing again, which has been great.

I'm pretty sure the venue was in the background in being human tonight...

The scene down by the water all looked pretty familiar, then there's this shot...

I may well be wrong though.

Yup, that is the Sea Scout hut, or to give it's proper name, the "Benjamin Perry Bouathouse" (whoever he was/is)
