I don't think the internet has been introduced in Queensland yet, though.

(on a serious note, the distance between capital cities is quite massive, you'll likely be flying if you want to reach anywhere out of your backyard)

Yup. Wiki says the distance from Aberdeen in the North to Brighton in the South of the UK is 594 miles. About the same distance from Brisbane to Sydney (~1010km), or Sydney to Melbourne (~964km).

And our interstate rail from all accounts isn't great, from performance to cost. Flying is prolly the best option.

hmmm...not one for short haul flights me but I'm sure we can sort something out: Seems like melbourne is the only place i'll realistically be able to reach but I do have some time off booked and I quite like trains so come the end of my stay other cities may be a possibility :-)

OMAN: Yep: I think yr correct about the season: it would be a real shock to my system If i was going in Ozzy Summer though: it's -6 outside my door and I don't think I could handle cycling all of a sudden in 38degree heat!

Let us know if you do come down to Melbourne and we will see if we can help you out with a place to stay for the visit.

Cheers.....    :agree:

I know the Sydney-Melbourne train journey (900+ KMs) is 10 hours alone... and dull as dishwater
I think the Brisbane-Melbourne (1800KMs)train route would be close enough to going London-Belgrade

As an West Australian I tend not to even consider trains as an option.  In the north of Western Australia they all tend to be cargoe trains with no passenger trains even available :(.

I have the options of very expensive intra state small airlines followed by a interstate flight which is probably cheaper or a 5hr drive either side of the interstate flight.  Thus I haven't managed to get to any of the Epic tournaments the Eastern States guys have held despite wanting to for a couple of years.

The community should pitch in and we could have a Taccomms Gulf Stream  :)

Could pick Epic players from all over the world for Tournament's! No more worry or hassle of transporting delicate armies either!

Ok I know, Just my 2 cents...

Do they issue the hats with corks hanging off them as well?

Don't be silly. That is a myth.

On a semi-related note, my hat is made of kangaroos. Had it imported specially... no corks on it though.

Mark can you organise a trip this year if you give the lovely wife a heads up? At this stage, I'm planning to run Heavy Bolter again this year so here's some advanced notice  :yay: Surely, that trip to Melbourne is on the cards?

Oooh! So when are Oz tournaments such as Heavy Bolter planned? That might be a good idea :-)

I will let dobbsy decide on Heavy Bolter as this is his baby.

I do know that LeanonRuss plans to do a tournament in March/April sometime (still sketchy on the details).

Overall if we get the games happening, Melbourne will hopefully become an Epic hot-spot in 2010. There are quite a few players around with minis (whether painted or not)   :;):
