I would suggest no lower than 400pts as the next testing point.

I believe that the Harbinger bomber is in a similar position to the variant Imperial aircraft such as Lighting, the Lightning Strike, the Marauder Destroyer and the Marauder Colossus, in that unless introduced in a 'core' list, it will likely never see use in variant lists beyond one or two marginal experiments.

I would rather this attractive model be implemented and tested, and treated as a 'Titan of the skies', as something aesthetically appealing and unique to Epic.

I agree with this and think the Harbringer should definitely be included in all core chaos lists. If the Tau get a Manta why should Chaos not get their super-heavy flyer? It would also have a role in heavy hitting the enemy deployment zone now that the Defilers have lost that.

I have a Harbringer I bought specially to use in Epic and will give one a try in a 4-5k Chaos list soon, testing at 400 though as 500 does seem excessive.

I'm not in favour of including this unit - I think it would be better left for a variant list which it could be an integral part of the list rather than being tagged on to the BL list purely as twe have a model.

I agree with this.

However, I also agree with E&C that without something dedicated to it, the model will remain marginal.  If this is the reason for leaving it out, testing a solid variant list should be a priority.

The Manta is the Tau version of a Battle Titan, not a super-heavy flyer... the Chaos lists already have Battle Titan options.

That said, I've got no problem with the Harbinger being available... just don't see myself taking one... same thing with a Manta!

I don't play (nor will I ever play) Chaos, but the Elysians have a formation of Marauder Destroyers (2 x DC2) for 375 points. Bomber, 6+ armor. Their weapon load out is
Code Sample:

3 x Twin Autocannons 30cm AP4+/AT5+ Fixed Forward
2 x Underwing rockets 30cm AT4+ Fixed Forward
2 x Assault Cannons 15cm AA4+ Rear 180
Twin Heavy Bolters 15cm AA5+  -

Having played with that formation several times it felt pretty well balanced for the Elysians.  Hopefully you can peg off that price for calculating the Harbinger's.

Well I just took it for a 2nd game and played it at 400 points

The thing is quite useful at getting to units you need to place BM on or potentially break. The problem with it is how fragile it can be especially to an Intercept.

The main issue here is people are theorising here. I would/would not take it etc etc. Try taking it and see how it changes yours and your opponent's play and then figure if it is worth it to you - that is my recommendation.

I like it as an option.

Can someone confirm the BP stat? Is 1 BP accurate or do I have a typo?

Thanks E&C. It will definitely be staying in my WEs list too as that stat means it's great at wreaking havoc on Khorne's enemies  :yay:
