I do have to agree with the comments about having some GW support is better than nothing at all.  From the point of view of models, I really don't like a lot of the alternatives that seem to be on offer out there, they are far too realistic for my liking, so just on that basis, I would prefer to see GW stay involved.

Best alternatives so far :) (UKP 7.50 each)
Thunderhawk - 4 and a 1/2 inches long

Thunderhawk Transporter :)

(I haven't got a pic of the 4 1/2 inch ones with the pod removed ready for vehicle transport)
Thunderhawk Strike varients :)

Wow!  That brings back memories.  The Eagles always were my favourite ships in 1970's sci-fi.  Not that there were a lot of choices mind.  You could even call the "Aquila" transports in a Guard unit.

My problem with most of the alternative models out there is that I actually want my Falcons to look like Falcons. If I didn't care what the models looked like, I'd just use legos.

Some things fit, sure, because one 6mm human in modern armor with a rifle pretty much looks like any other human in modern armor with a rifle. But anything beyond human infantry, it gets dicey.

It's not a universally held opinion, I realize, but it's just how I feel.

I searched for ages after seeing them in the FWC book. At last I have them!

As for Eldar, there are no curvy skimmers out there? Bear in mind there have been 3 distinct Eldar designs to date (angular with domes and some curves, skeletal, and now very curvy).

I missed a generation. Got a pic of the 'skeletal' Eldar?

When we were at warhammmer world last night the shop manager approached us to ask what epic blisters would be most popular. As there is now a decent group of epic players at WHW each week he has decided, and got the green light from above, to stock a full range of epic in the store - at least 60 blisters and 15 boxes.

Before there was a handful of blisters and anything else took 3 hours from mailorder.

If SG was being axed it seems odd that he would be allowed to do this.

Should've told him, "Necrons, Tau and Tyranids"

Or you can always scratch build your own of course, thunderhawks are just a strange box shape with 2 wings and a smaller box on the top.

Assuming they don't need detail underneath and your happy to make your own engine blocks with plastic tubing, just press mould the front? Games Workshop are theoretically OK with people green stuff moulding small bits yes? :upside:

The skeletal look was only really for the Titans, though. The vehicles went over to the current smooth-curves look at the same time the skeletal titans were introduced. The latter were wisely dropped.
