Some really nice Stalingrad ruins, a huge grain elevator, and an Iraqi fuel depot, among other items: JR Miniatures

Looks pretty good ... some of those would fit right in with the old G/W Ruins ...

Now why would anyone want a model of a grain elevator?
:suspect:

Because they are one of the few buildings that will explode it real life like normal buildings do in an action movie?

Just pretend you're on an agriworld.

During the battle of Stalingrad, there was a fairly heroic defense of one sector by the Soviets who held out and kept the Germans pinned down from a grain elevator and even at scale, this one is on the small side. Here's a true-scale 6mm model of the Stalingrad Grain elevator:

Grain Elevator from Timecast
. It's roughly 2 feet from end to end.  :)

Fairly heroic... I should say.

Wow...

Pavlov's house as well.

Ouch... DRM Pax Arcadian Army, or Timecast grain elevator?

I just ordered the Ruined city block #1 from Magister Militum to do a test model. I was ordering more 10 mm medievals anyways... :)

Yes, I used that to get some bridges and extra bits for my river.... then got hit by custom charges for the first time ever

Still I think it worked out cheaper than getting it from Magister Militum in the uk.

Actually, for me here in Sweden at least it was cheaper to get from Magister Militum. It cost me £5.50 (including shipping) as opposed to $12 from the U.S. That's 63 to 85 in Swedish currency. Must admit that I was expecting faster handling from the U.K. but that does not seem to be the case. Either MM didn't have the terrain in stock already or they're just "seasonally" busy. :p

Yes the only way I saved by ordering from the US was there annual free shipping worldwide offer.

After customs getting involved here in the UK I saved all of £2.50!

Mm, customs... That's also a risk here when ordering from the U.S. But I can accept that mostly (being a Swede does make you used to taxation so to say) what really irks me was the handling fee the last time I had something stuck in customs. Import tax: 80 SEK for a 5-600 SEK item, sure ok. Handling fee: 100 SEK! Ridiculous. So to cut to the point, I am very pleased that customs got nothing on me when ordering from the U.K. Go EU!

I was hoping to put up some comparative pics with epic minis here when the thing arrives, but still no word from MM. *sigh* Wouldn't it be great if there was a store that delivered to you 5 minutes before you placed your order? I'd buy from them. :)

I was perusing their website looking at these, and came across the Battletech-style massive buildings for $30 USD.  I was trying to figure out "why!".  They didnt look that big to me.

Then I found them in stock at the game store I work at yesterday.  Theyre HUGE!  Bigger than a brick, really.  Wow.
