I know I've brought this up before, but would it be too much to ask for you to design these arm weapons with some consideration given to the people who will want to cram them onto the shoulder mounts?

My thinking is that (if making two different versions of each weapon is not on the table), maybe you could could have the armor cowl (which tends to cover the lower half of the receiver on each type of gun)as a separate part, and have a mounting socket on both the upper and lower sides of each gun. Then, for mounting on the arm, the cowling part would cover the lower socket. With shoulder mounting, the cowling part wouldn't be used, as the shoulder armor suffices.

I realize you are going the 'appocalypse rules' route for these things, but I would point out that FW doesn't limit itself to current rules (or the practical limits of ammunition storage).

Take the three pieces displayed at the top of this image.
Mount the shoulder armour into the joint socket on top of the arm weapon.
Chop the shoulder mount off the upper body piece, using a piece of styrene rod, or thick wire, or any other round object, pin the weapon onto the body as in the bottom picture.
Tadaa, shoulder mounted main armament.
I reckon it's going to be a fairly simple conversion without need of special bits to make things fit.

Actually, Forgeworld's rules are the same as the Apocalypse rules, and neither allow the larger weapons to be fitted to the carapace.

That may be true for their titans (for now), but what I was referring to was their 40k stuff. I mean, look at their Tau stuff.

Sometimes it seems like FW will stick a gun on any surface big enough to accomodate it, regardless of what the 40k rules (or common sense) allow.

Well, hell, that seems good enough for me. Good job!

Might make the shoulder mount piece seperate from the upper body. Then the Conversion is even easier.

Regarding the Velcro cannon: Looking good. I wonder a bit about the overall width of the weapon though: Would it be better to have the coil thingys brought closer the the body of the weapon, making it look alightly slimmer overall?

The width is there to balance it against the larger stock of the gattling cannon, but will render some different views of a slimline version against the current one for you.

Another option is to include some beefed up targeter or some other technical doohickey running along the length of the barrel. That would make the overall part look bigger, but not upset your vision of having the main barrel having a size comparable to the shadowsword model.

Could do, I'll play some more and see what I think. The weapon is quite a bit larger than the shadowsword variant though.

Woah, good work with those conversion tips for semajnollissor, I'm not sure I could have figured that one out with the figures in front of me, never mind when the pieces don't even exist in 3D space yet!

Nice mental juggling!  :agree:

I like the Velcro Cannon. I am less keen on the Plasma Cannon but that is mainly because the FW Plasma Blastgun looks so cool looking that it suffers in comparison.

Cheers

Much better with the armour on the energy coils of the Velcro Cannon  :agree:

@E&C: *BAMPF!* As you wish master. The answer is: Yes the Plasma Destructor is identical to a Plasma Blastgun except that it has one more shot.
Proof: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... 22;t=12279
Same with the Laser-Blaster wich is identical to the Double-barelled Turbolaser-Destructor except that it has one more shot and more range (96" instead of 72").

Speaking of the Plasma Destructor: WOW cool design!  :agree: But i would prefer the three barrels closer to each other. They look a bit to far away from each other for my tastes.

In regards to the Plasma Destructor:

3 x Macro Weapon 2+, 45cm range? or 60cm?

Dissapointing for a warlord titan weapon, especially as original was 4 x 3+ 100cm range and -6 to armour save (Basically a macro weapon but better).

Design wise - the model I showed is just E&C's blastgun chopped up, rotated and glued back together, nothing special, just 30 seconds of play.

Plasma Cannon     60cm 3x MW Slow-Firing

Plasma Destructor 75cm 4x MW Slow-Firing

I do like the idea of a wider/longer version of the blastgun. I do like the Quad look as it a bit blocky, and I'm not really sold on the triangle but maybe with more tweaking it could work. Also I think one plasma mount would work for both Cannon and Destructor. But I would assume everyone would take the extra range and shot always.

@ E&C In the AMTL list the Reaver and Warlord can take both weapons loadouts correct? So it can take both Plasma variants?

Nevertheless it looks cool :) Just put the three Blastgun parts closer together :)

And considering my WH40k-to-Epic System
Plasma Destructor:
(Rapid) Range: 72", Strength: 8, Armourpiercing 2 Ordnance 3, 7" Blast, Primary Weapon
(Full) Range: 96", Strength: 10, Armourpiercing 2, Ordnance 2, 10" Blast, Primary Weapon

translates in Epic to:
(Rapid) Range 75cm 3 x AP4+/AT4+ Disrupt
(Full) Range 90cm 2 x AP3+/AT4+ Disrupt, Ignore Cover

Actually the (Full) mode of fire is the same as a Demolisher Cannon but with double the diameter of the Blast Template. So i added Disrupt to show that it can catch more targets.

Jup not that Powerful. The meagre Turbolaser-Destructor is quite more powerful:
Range: 72", Strength: D, Armourpiercing 2, Ordnance 1, 5" Blast, Primary Weapon

Would translate to:
Range 75cm MW3+ Titankiller (D3)

The Double-barelled one has two shots. Would rather take those than a Volcano Cannon

Indeed the AMTL lıst for Epic has remained backwards compatible with past editions so that people don't have to cut up their models.

Some more play with the plasma weapons.
The top of these three is the normal blastgun length barrel.
The other two are extended length ways.
What do people think?

The third/lower one. I guess it's the same length as the Gatling thingy?
