Looks good to me. DS mentioned the knight's cannons - maybe add some white on the end ring to match some of your other titan's weapons?

So, November.

I slacked off a bit around the start of the month and went a couple of weeks without painting anything. When I finally did get around to tackling this second formation of Forge Knights, they took over another week to get finished. And to be honest, I'm not all that happy with them. They're not bad, but some of the highlighting is a bit sloppy in places. For some reason I really didn't enjoy painting these much. Still, here they are:

It is strange how the same paint scheme works wonderful on one model and not at all on another. The warhounds and Warlord look great, but the knights do look a bit flat. I admire your productivity so I think you should leave them as they are, especially if you did not find them enjoyable to paint. As a formation, they still look impressive, and way beyond table top quality.

If you are looking for improvement, I think the black or white could get some attention. I find those colours the hardest to make them work myself. I would personally try to add some grey touches to the black and some grey shading to the white.

Other than that, a great force indeed.

Thanks, all.

I had considered doing that bud decided against it. I've tended only to add white around weapon barrels where there is an obvious flat area, like the ring around the end of the Gatling Blaster or the cover over the end of the Volcano Cannon. The Knights' guns don't have that: there is a ring around the end of the barrel but it has studs on it rather than being smooth, so I decided against it. I might see if there's any way I can improve the cannons, though.

There is a little bit of (drybrushed) highlighting on the black, but it isn't all that clear on the photos. Shading the white might work, though. Mostly where I've done things in white it's been on fairly flat surfaces where I felt a clean, even white might look better, but the knights' heads are slightly more complex surfaces, where I could maybe get some shading to work.

I'll probably leave them alone for now, but I might have a look at touching them up a bit once I've done something else.

Next up will be a Reaver, but I'm not sure which one, yet. Either Two Quake Cannons and a Carapace Landing Pad or a Rocket Launcher, Laser Blaster and Gatling Blaster.

This week I've mostly been distracted by Eldar, but I also found time to paint up another Reaver, this time armed with two Quake Cannons and a Carapace Landing Pad. Sorry the picture's a little bit blurry; I'll try and get a better one when I can.

The CLP is just a circle of plasticard on top of an upside-down 25mm round base, with a plug to attach it to the top of the titan made from Milliput and a piece of wire. I considered getting an old metal CLP model from eBay, but the only ones I found were going for more money than they were worth, so I went with this route instead.

Before I'd got hold of the Reaver model I tried making a pair of Quake Cannons out of Plasticard and the barrel of a W40K Earthshaker Cannon, but when I actually got a Reaver model I discovered I'd made them far too big. I've since acquired a couple of Quake Cannons from old Warlords instead, which are still pretty huge.

So, after just under a week, I'm up to 725 points painted this month. One more Reaver to go!

I really like the Reaver.
It just doesn't quite seem finished to me. Maybe some white or blue on the quake cannons? That and you really need a Lysander to sit on that pad  :)

Well, as long as it's fairly small. You wouldn't get a Marauder bomber on there, for example. You could definitely park a Falcon Grav-tank on there, though.

I had thought about that. I think doing the whole end-section of the barrel white would be too much, but I wonder whether a thinner band of white would work. I might experiment a bit tomorrow.

It'd certainly be nice to have something to go there. I'd been thinking a land speeder or similar.

Well one on the Reaver, Axel. When I use Quake Cannons on a Reaver, I mount them flipped over compared to how you have done it. That way they're pointing up.

Yes in a starting position with the burst of the engines coming out :agree:
I have thought about something similar, when I finally get my capreace landing pad

I think a Vulture might be a bit much (especially if I used the Forge World one). Since in-game the CLP just adds indirect fire to the Quake Cannons, I think just a small skimmer would be more appropriate. I think I remember reading some mention of it playing host to a land speeder somewhere.

Thanks. That's an interesting idea, and would certainly get them at the right angle so they look like they're firing indirectly, but I'd have thought with the thingy running along the top rather than the bottom of the gun they'd look a bit upside down. Presumably not.

Anyway, I now have a better, less blurry photo. I have also added some improvement to the ends of the Cannons.

Yeah, technically speaking they are upside down when I mount them that way, but I think it looks better than having them point at the ground.
