@frogbear: You're a fellow melbournite, correct? Where do you game? Monday Knights in Auburn?

Sorry

Just saw this today. I am in the SE suburbs (Around the Noble Park / Dandenong district).

Where is Auburn?

As for the wet pallette, that sponge is pretty big.

You may want to try the yellow sponge cleaning cloths that you can find in any supermarket. It should be easier to work with.

Cheers.......

Where is Auburn?

Near Hawthorn I believe. The Monday Knights play at the bowls club on monday nights, apparently a very active epic group. Haven't been but intend to.

Are you talking height or overall size? Am I looking for a thinner sponge or less surface area. This is my first time toying around with this idea and I'm not 100% on the theory either which doesn't help. It is making a huge difference already though, and I'm not even up to any 28mm blending work yet.

It is the thinner size you are looking for. It means less water used (water restrictions 3a remember  :)) ) and you can work more consistently with the water placement overall.

I will try to get a picture of what I use, however it is alot smaller to yours, but you seem to do more painting than me    :sigh:

More updates.
Whirlwinds

Land Raiders

Thunderbolts

I've got 2400 points painted now, pretty stoked about that. Can't wait to have a fully painted 3000 point force ready. But what next is the question. I'm liking painting all the vehicles, but I'm starting to run out of useful vehicle formations to add. I think it'll have to be assault marines and terminators next.

As always the forum trims the photos considerably, so right click on them and go to "view image" or something similar if you want to see them in their full sized glory.

Hey! Check it out! I did some more painting and stuff. And even though no-one commented on my thread last time I figured the army diaries have been a little few and far between at the moment. Also, my photo's survived the forum crash because I hosted them off-site

Assault formation:

And a close up on the chaplain:

This shot reminds me that I forgot to paint the harnesses on the assault marines and also that I got grey paint all over stuff when i painted the bases! Grrr... I don't think I'll rush the next formations.

Terminators:

I'm pretty proud of the cyclone, assault cannon and librarian conversions in this formations, but they are nearly impossible to pick out in this photo.

Here's the army as it stands now:

I can't find the rest of my whirlwind formation. It makes me really angry. If anyone has seen them please let me know.

And I thought this was pretty cool. I've finally finished a full battle company:

Also played a game with them against Morgan's air-orks in landas. Got reamed hard. Landa's dropping on land raider formations just ate me alive and after that I didn't have the punch to deal with the threats anymore. Oh well.

That is a really cool army. Building a Battle Company is very fluffy. Next up might be soem Hunters, to deal with those pesky aircraft?

Agree, you can sign me up to the Novamarine fan club. Very nicely executed and they ought to look pretty incredible on the tabletop.

Bravo!

Yeah, I've just been using whirlwinds for hunters thus far but I might have to slot some hunters into the next vehicle batch.

Cheers for the comments guys.

I've also done some snow terrain that I'll throw some pics up of in the next update.
