Very nice, Alex. I like your simple, but effective color scheme.

Lance batteries to fill the back carapace holes is a great idea :agree:

Thanks, guys.

Well, here as promised is a Standard Configuration Reaver Titan:

I love the Reaver Titan model. My top three Titan models would be this, the Lucius-pattern Warlord and the new-style Eldar Revenants. I think it's telling that this model has remained unchanged (aside from a slight re-working of the feet so that it can go on a flat base) for about 20 years.

I noticed while prepping this model up to paint that it's a sharper, cleaner cast than my Warhounds, which I believe are E40k-era casts, although I can't be sure as they were second-hand. I wonder if the condition of the moulds was a factor in why the Warhound model was (disastrously) re-designed for E:A while this one survived untouched.

This brings me up to schedule for this month, with 1500 points painted exactly. I've also decided to slightly revise my planned schedule again:

August: 2 x Warhounds (550 individually or 500 as a pair) - DONE!
September: Warlord (850), Reaver (650) - (1500) - DONE!
October: Reaver (675), 2x Warhounds (500), Forge Knights (400) - (1575)
November: Reaver (725), Reaver (675) - (1400)
December: Warlord (900), Forge Knights (400), Thunderbolts (150) - (1450)

So, we're well into October and it's sad to see how many ToEG09 projects seem to have stalled.

Still, there are a few of us still going, and my first offering for this month is this formation of Forge Knights:

It's odd painting these; they feel much more like 28mm infantry than 6mm AVs.

Note that they're missing the spikes from the tops. This is because those spikes are really fragile. Of the thirteen knights I have, six had at least one spike missing, so for this formation I removed all of them. The other formation needs some attention to some of the joints, as their previous owner was not too careful and some of the joints have sizeable gaps and/or messy blobs of glue visible. If I can sort them out without accidentally snapping any spikes off in the process, then that formation can keep them, otherwise I'll take the spikes off those as well.

Coming next will be a Reaver with a Rocket Launcher, a Gatling Blaster and a Volcano Cannon, although before I do that I have a (gasp!) 28mm model to paint (a half-elf archer from Spyglass Miniatures).

Looking good, the snow and the consistent paint scheme will give this force a realy unified look.

I know exactly what you mean about them seeming more like 28mms,,,and the faglity of the spikes :glare:

Well, after a brief distraction in 28mm, it's back to the Titans. This time it's a Reaver with Rocket Launcher, Gatling Blaster and Volcano cannon, same as Forge World's Lucius-pattern model. The arms are, of course, old Warlord Titan weapons.

That brings me up to 1075 so far this month. Unfortunately, I've discovered that I'm not going to have any more money for toys until almost the end of November. So I've had to rearrange my planned schedule so that it doesn't involve painting miniatures before I have the chance to get them.

The new plan is this:
August: 2 x Warhounds (550 individually or 500 as a pair) - DONE!
September: Warlord (850), Reaver (650) - (1500) - DONE!
October: Forge Knights (400), Reaver (675), 2x Warhounds (500) - (1575)
November: Forge Knights (400), Warlord (900) - (1300)
December: Reaver (725), Reaver (675) - (1400)

Coming next will be another pack of standard-configuration Warhounds.

1000 pts in 18 days, im jealous :p

The shading on that elf's cloak is also wonderfully subtle.

You have another winner with the Reaver.  :agree:  The Knights look great, too.

Thanks.

Well, I have been distracted again by another 28mm elf (not to mention a Greater Daemon), but I have managed to find time to get two more Warhounds painted up:

And together as a pack:

The first of these I got at the same time as the previous two. The second one I got more recently and it was in a bit of a state. It was assembled in a fairly awful pose, with a dreadful, plastered-on paint job and visible blobs of glue around the joints. It's been quite satisfying to strip, clean up and restore this model to a state where I'm happy with it.

That brings me up to 1575 points for this month, which was my target. I hope to begin next month with another formation of Forge Knights.

Great work as ever :agree:

Are we the only 2 TOEG09 logs left? :oh:

Are we the only 2 TOEG09 logs left?

It does rather look that way. I can't find any others that have updated since September, which is a shame.

Still, two is better than none, right?

So, November.

I slacked off a bit around the start of the month and went a couple of weeks without painting anything. When I finally did get around to tackling this second formation of Forge Knights, they took over another week to get finished. And to be honest, I'm not all that happy with them. They're not bad, but some of the highlighting is a bit sloppy in places. For some reason I really didn't enjoy painting these much. Still, here they are:

Having taken until yesterday to finish painting the Knights, I then made up for my slackness by also painting this Warlord in its entirety the same day. I'm a lot happier with this model.

At 400 points for the Knights and 900 for the Warlord, that's 1300 points painted this month, which brings me up to schedule. It also means that this army is now the same points value as both my Eldar and Chaos Marines at 6,125.

So how's the schedule looking?

August: 2 x Warhounds (550 individually or 500 as a pair) - DONE!
September: Warlord (850), Reaver (650) - (1500) - DONE!
October: Forge Knights (400), Reaver (675), 2x Warhounds (500) - (1575) - DONE!
November: Forge Knights (400), Warlord (900) - (1300) - DONE!
December: Reaver (725), Reaver (675) - (1400)

I'm also thinking of extending this project for a sixth month, painting another two Reavers in January. That'd bring me up to a round 9,000 points, which would seem like a good point to stop.

I think the Knights look pretty good. I might put a little more time into the cannon, but otherwise they look fine. Nice Warlord, too!
