So finally got a decent digicam :)
I used plastic IG Infantry as stand-ins for the metal Barans i will use for my actual DKoK.

From left to right:
Regal Blue Trenchcoat, Chaos Black Helmet
Scorched Brown Trenchcoat, Chaos Black Helmet
Codex Grey + Catachan Green Trenchcoat, Scorched Brown Helmet
Catachan Green Trenchcoat, Catachan Green Helmet
Codex Grey Trenchcoat, Codex Grey Helmet
(no idea why the order in the poll itself is different)

So what looks best?

I think the lighter colors show up better against your bases. I almost went with the grey/grey, but thought that looked a little too uniform. So I went with #3.

I voted the popular choice but Honda does have a point about the dark bases.

Have you considered giving the bases a drybrush of a lighter colour though? A much lighter brown / beige / cream drybrush would help make them contrast better and help the look generally, with epic infantry the base often has more visible surface the models so making the extra effort tends to be worth it.

I'm going to have to buy myself a pot of that catachan green methinks...

I think red trousers go well with the elan needed to actually leave the trenches.

Other than that, I liked the two schemes with brown in it, either helmets (#3), or uniforms (#2). Grey on grey is a bit too surrealistic for me. (Am I the only one old enough to not understand half of the emoticons that can be used, so here comes a random one which is supposed to mean that it was a pun).  :alien:

I like Catachan Green Trenchcoat, Catachan Green Helmet the best and Codex Grey Trenchcoat, Codex Grey Helmet would be my second. I really like the Green/Grey coats but not the Brown helmet.

- The Regal Blue with Chaos Black helmet is inspired from the Grenadier on page 89 of Vraks 1. The text says he is 5th Siege Regiment and theuniform and armour is allblack. To me the uniform looks bluish. On page 89 it looks brown.
- The Scorched Brown with Chaos Black Helmet is inspired by 5th Siege Regiment.
- The Codex Grey + Catachan Green Trenchcoat, Scorched Brown Helmet is taken from actual WW1 German Infantry 1916+.
- The full Catachan Green ones are inspired from 158th Siege Regiment. Could go with 19th Siege Regiment if i paint the helmets Scorched Brown for mor contrast.
- The full Codex Grey are inspired by 143rd Siege Regiment.

All these can be found on page 92/93 of Vraks 1.

An other idea is to make them all black (as ther 5th Siege Regimentis describet to be). But this is difficult to highlight without looking grey.

The bases are Scorched Brown with a slight drybrush of Dark Flesh. I wanted that they look like wet mud with patches of grass which remained after week long bombardements. So i don't know if i really should paint them brighter.

I think that the Catachan Green stormcoat with a Scorched Brown helmet would look excellent.

Hi,
I think the third option works best.

Grey & Grey FTW! And if you add some mud splashes to the tail of the coats, then they'd be awesome!
