No this isn't some crazy monk order    This issue has come up in a couple of recent games I've played.

What is the order of opposing teleporter placement if they arrive on the same turn as each other? It's not super clear in the rules.

We have played it that the higher strat rating gets to choose - and that means usually goes second. And why wouldn't you?

FWIW, we always use "D6+strategy, winner chooses" to determine anything like that (choosing sides of the board, deployment order, teleporting order) - it means marines (for example) will still probably choose, but removes the guarantee, which I think is extremely important.

This has been raised in the past but seems not to have found its way into the updates / rules.

The decision was that the Higher SR chooses which side will teleport first, and then formations alternate between players. Once one side passes, they may not make any further teleports that turn and the other side is free to continue with any and all others.

Note this process also includes the Eldar Avatar and all other formations that are deployed before the start of a turn.

I might add that while I like the mechanic presented by Old-Gamer, I do not recollect the decision including a dice role being added to the SR.

It's in the FAQ/Errata.

The procedure is as described (higher SR chooser - alternate), but it applies to all "beginning of turn" effects, not just teleports.  If you were playing with the Tunneling rules in the Nid list you might be alternating between placing tunnelers and teleporters.

Actually, it's on the seventh page of the updated rulebook on the GW site:

SPECIAL RULE
1.4.2 Abilities Used At Start Of Turn/Action

Some units have special abilities that are
specified as taking effect at the beginning of the
turn. These effects are resolved before the
Strategy roll. Similarly, abilities that are used at
the start of an action can be taken before the
Initiative roll is made or the action chosen. If
both players have effects for the beginning of the
turn, take turns resolving them, alternating
between players for each subsequent effect until
all effects are resolved. The player with the
higher strategy rating decides which player will
go first.

Oops, I should have been clearer: The 'we' I referred to meant 'my friends and me', not 'the epic community at large'. It's just a house rule - we tend to be fairly liberal with them, while making sure to know the 'correct' rules in case of games with anyone unfamiliar with our house rules.
