The fists are crimson (crimson fists)
The rest of them are a dark blue.

Quote (primarch @ 07 2003 Nov.,13:24) | Hi!
Crimson fists? Are they blue? Isn't crimson...well...red?
Have been so out of the loop that I can even identify chapter colors anymore?
So sad....
Primarch | Truly sad. Crimson Fists were in the cover of the Rogue Trader rulebook.

Exactly. They are a very cool Chapter, and I like the deep blue as a background. My Marines are the Dark Talons, a rebel and successor Chapter to the Crimson Fists. I always wanted a CF army, but never got around to it, so this is as close as I will get. Or course, I also aways wanted a Salamanders army (before they were re-invented for Armageddon) and a Mentors Legion force as well. Time will tell...

Right, I have been a bit quiet on this recently, due to other life commitments...
Monday 10th November I managed to put a coat of lighter blue on the Marines. I started with the original dark blue, but after I couldnt see that any better I just went for broke and put on a really light coat. In general, I am reasonably happy with it. It comes out very blue in the pictures, and in reality it is a little UltraMarine.
I may neaten this up, and then give it a blue ink glaze to tone it down a bit next. Still, this is usually the part that I really mess it up, so we shall see.
The current state of play:

I also glanced at the new force lists and find (as predicted) that Assault Marines dropped in price.
So, my force currently stands at:
Tactical + Razorback (x6) + Captain : 500 Tactical + Hunter : 375 Tactical : 300 Land Speeder + Librarian: 250 Predators : 300 Assault + Chaplain : 225 Total : 1950
|
So, I have an extra 50 points to spend. Any ideas?
I have also been thinking about the development of the rest of the force, and taking it (eventually) up to 5000 points. There are a few things that I would like to add, in each 1000 point block:
Assault formation and a Thunderhawk Terminators (although not necessarily with the Land Raiders) Titan - either two Warhounds or a Reaver

The only thing you can get in the SM list is a commander. You can add another, boost one to SC, or drop one and pick up a 75 point upgrade, still leaving 25 points on the table.
Personally, I'd go for the SC after watching my SM opponent lose the phenomenal number of activations and rally rolls in the last game.

Well you are faster than me, I managed to undercoat 12 stands of Cadian troops and 6 Redemptionist Hive Gangers/Ministorium troopers.
Oh and the command stand, but that came out kinda funny :S.

Ok, to be fair I have also stuck a couple of gun turrets on Deffsta.... And I consider this fast - my standard rate is: undercoat (note - not advanced undercoat) one warhammer40K Sentinel in 4 weeks. It's a long way to Waaaaghh.

Right, that is a challenge! I still have some original BRT01 plastic beakies on sprues waiting for assembly, some original Genestealer Cult army as loose metals and a few more original plastic 40K Guardsmen (although Tuff took a load of these off my hands), as well as pretty much the entire contents of the original Space Marine boxed set on sprues!
Suddenly I realise that I should perhaps not be proud about this!
neal - Thanks for the advice. I am tempted to save the 50 points for later use, but I will think about upgrading the Captain to a Commander.

Hi!
I got you all beat. The last project to paint was started in 2000, I have yet to finish it. I'll probably pay to get it done.

I've been writing a couple of 2000pt lists for me to test my list against, and often come 50 or 25pts short. Although it doesn't help having a limited choice in minis.
I need to try to use already painted marines to create a force for the guys I'm going to teach to use. As I dont have that many (never been into marines really) Its hard to do.
What about adding in land speeder upgrades to use up the points?

Quote (Shadow Hunter @ 13 2003 Nov.,10:41) | What about adding in land speeder upgrades to use up the points? | I did this with the original list, but I was advised that I had no MW attacks in the force then. I think that I will leave the Speeders and just upgrade the Captain to a Commander. I will need a big boss at some point, the initial 2000 point block seems an apt place to put him (with his Librarian and Chaplian as well) and this frees up the points later in. My goal is to have a 2000 point core block, with 1000 point 'add ons' for later. That means that each 1000 block cant go over this amount.
Besides, I cant think of a better place for the overall Commander than a Tactical formation with six Razorbacks!
