Since my list here is a proposal, and is consequently not fixed into a development cycle (or declaired 'finished' either) I have no compunction against adding new creatures into the list.

Hi all

I'm a bit new to this army list, but I was just trying to work out what the point is in Hormagants and Raveners having the 'infiltrator' ability, when there isn't a synapse brood with infiltrate they can be attached to?

Also how do Harridans transport gargoyles when they can't be bought as part of their formation? I know WM's can carry troops that aren't in their formation, but does that mean they can just scoop up the gargoyles and ignore the rest of the gargoyle's brood?

Sorry if I'm missing something but I'm an EvilCast fuelled n00b where 'Nids are concerned!

Your questions do have answers, but honestly this list was just a proposal, and should wait for Chroma's promised Tyranid list update before discussing anything further. :)

The infiltrator special ability just means the unit can double their move when they charge; while formation coherency must be maintained, you can used Gargoyles or other fast units as an coherency "anchor" when you charge into the enemy.

Infiltrate allows you to get a lot more Tyranid in base-to-base combat- especially important for stuff like Hormagaunts that would otherwise get nothing to roll as Firefight.
It also allows you to ignore Zones of Control- so you could move your Warriors directly towards the enemy formation, then have the much faster Hormagaunts circle around to engage Character units, or really good Firefight units- causing them to have to use Close Combat (which they may be rubbish at) and be selected to roll Armour Saves before those not in base-to-base (so you might bring down the Character early).

The Harridan thing I can only presume is a mistype, or for 'completeness'- the Harridan 'could' carry Gargoyles in it's stats, but not in this particular list. Remember the list of units stats and the Tournament Army List are completely different things.

Thanks for the replies guys.

So should I not consider this list "active" until further notice then?  Just trying to make vague plans about what models to try and dredge up from eBay.

Whilst I have read through the most recent version of Chroma's list (I think!) I'm much more interested in a list which reflects the current 40k army, which I think this proposed list does.

No offence to any parties involved, just personal preference.  I know this posting was a bit controversial so sorry if I've caused any trouble.

Well it seems we are answering questions.

In this list style, the Harridan can have Gargoyles in its formation if it is a Harridan with a Syanpse Symbiote upgrade.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "reflects the current 40k army"?

I believe the E&C proposal has "fewer" units, removing the Assault Spawn and such that haven't figured in recent 40k, while including some Carnifex variants, while the v9 series includes these "lost units" and most of the other units in the Leviathan list.

Indeed you are!

Aha, knew I'd missed something obvious, cheers dude. Am I right in thinking the harridan has gone from the FW site in the great Epic purge forever burned in our minds as 'the Great Forgeworld Range De-biggening of 2009'? If I search epic harridan I can see it but I then can't find it on the site.

Wierdness.

Development of this variant list is shut down until such time as Chroma updates the ERC Tyranid list (so we know whether any of the Special Rules will be changed or updated).

I may then re-open development on this variant list once that happens, if the Tyranid Army Champion approves.

I too want to play a list that is more 'modern' in unit composition and play style, rather than one that is more primarily based on the Tyranids as they were in the Hive Fleets that came before Hive Fleet Leviathan.

The EPIC Harridan was gone LOOOONG before the 2009 purge.

I believe Otterman may have some spare Forgeworld Epic Harridans he may be willing to part with.
