The FW cost issue is a big one. There's no way that 8 FW are worth as much as 6 FW + 3 DF. Not a chance.

A majority of these Apoc formations are online and do not cost anything.

Note you do have to understand 40k special rules (I get the Toughness, WS etc, but the specials mean little to me).

Just ask someone. For example: me
I can provide a .pdf summary of each Apocalypse formation with name and units in it. The Apocalypse formations special rules would be of no interest in Epic (i guess) so those i would leave out.

They are in my opinion really great at 300pts, but I suppose testing will show where their balance lies.

Well given Frogbear's opinion of Stealths in our recent game I doubt reducing their cost in any way will be favourably accepted by many even if they were that cost in previous list incarnations.

If that was the teleporting unit with Scout, First strike Firefight and an above average save, then yes, this was an extremely good unit.

I'm very happy to see the restriction of needing a FireWarrior unit to field Kroot is not included in this list and I hope it stays gone.

People may like FW's to be compulsory in every list but that is not the case with any Tau list created so far and neither should it be. Kroot can be used to support Hammereheads and Crisis Suits and still stay in the realms of believable fluffyness.

I would like to see all the battlesuit formations move to 1+ activation. I believe they would qualify for this being the best of the best that the Tau have.

I'd also like to see the Bonded Team Upgrade for FireWarriors as it certainly helps me want to use FW's a little more.

Hero - 200pts= :agree:

Hena, I have used my own homemade Tau list for a while, but knowing that I was using something that no one else was using just felt a bit wrong in the end. Of course I liked the list but anyone else with a Tau army will be using something different. Not good.
Of course, I insist that at some point, someone finds an official way for me to use the 2 Morays and 4 Scorpionfish I have (not to mention 12 Stingrays and Human Aux). I've spent too much time and money on these models not to be able to use them in an official ERC approved list so the ERC is going to have to find a place for them because I know I'm not alone.

Thanks for your efforts with this Honda.

Cheers,
Steve.

Stingray and Scorpfish gone.

Stingray can make an easy proxy as a Skyray in the list, should you have bought loads of them and based your army around using gunline style Tau artillery.

I am still hoping for the Scorpionfish to be kept, in the form of an armed Orca (which is the vehicle that was actually mentioned in the background, rather than a static guided missile barge).

Battlesuits with Drone upgrades are far too powerful, IMHO they made Fire Warriors entirely unattractive.

Strange that noone ever actually proved this. But I suppose that isn't required in Tau lists.

I seem to remember a bunch of games using suits + drones in their old semi Gretchen incarnation.

That you can play a list like that doesn't make it bad. It doesn't mean that it would be played like that.

It does make it completely un-Tau.

In the background, the Tau do not fight by sitting back and hammering the enemy with 'artillery'.

They use Guided Missiles as a light harassment and disruption weapon, not as the primary method of engaging the enemy.

People have stated this opinion quite a bit, and there were no dissenting voices saying that Drones Upgrades didn't make Crisis Suits (in particular) over-perform.

Too good.

Then playtesting will reveal them a problem and the formation will either go up in price or be removed from the list.

Why is it so hard to realise that other armies allow the same "un fluffic" builds. How about all Land Speeder Marine army?

That's very in-keeping with the background (I always call it the background, never the 'fluff'), in that it represents a Ravenwing type army.

Here is one. I've played a lot against them and I've never had too much of a problem. Only problem was the special rule which was utterly wrong and made lone formations too good. Besides they were always too fast anyway. I've not seen many that would have complained them being too good.

Well I'm certain that you'll be able to make your case for the restoration of Drone Squads to Crisis Suit formations for use as cannon fodder in the future testing periods.

So what about all Devs or all Whirlwinds. Then there is the TRC special Thawks and Landing Craft.

None of those lists are actually the best list at winning games, which was the case for the 'loads of GMs' 5.1 Tau lists.

Plan B is 5 landing craft, 2 thunderhawks and a warlord titan! :) (Or maybe 4 landing craft, thunderbolts and 3 thunderhawks with the warlord!)

Using of course the superior Eagle transporter!

Still the list isn't the same since I can't capture so easily anymore  :boo:
