Hey Guys, this is that newbie from a while back who went dark (not surprising I'm assuming). I just recently got back into the habbit of finishing what I started, and I want to know if the list I just came up with is still feasible.

Correct me where I need correcting. Also, good to see you guys again, I like the new layout.

Reaver 1: Laser Burner, Turbolaser Destructor, Turbolaser Destructor: 625

Reaver 2: Laser Burner, Turbolaser Destructor, Turbolaser Destructor: 625

Reaver 3: Carapace landing pad, Quake Cannon, Quake cannon: 725

Sentinel Squadron: 100

Thunderbolt Squadron: 150

Warhound Pack: Inferno Gun/Vulcan megabolter, Inferno Gun/Vulcan megabolter: 500

Warhound: Plasma Blastgun, Vulcan Megabolter: 275

Greetings new guy!

I am E&C, otherwise known as 'Ben', and coincidentally I'm the chap who was appointed by the Epic Rules Comittee to steward the army lists of the Adeptus Mechanicus during their development.

So, some basic advice:

-----

- I always try and have at least 6 seperate formations in my army. This allows for a happy medium between powerful Battle Titans and cheaper Scout Titans / Sentinel formations to contest/control objectives.

- Personally I tend to build the core of my standard sized forces (3000pt army lists) around a Warlord Titan and a Reaver Titan, but you may wish to try other styles. Some prefer all Reavers, whilst some just enjoy the sensation of taking as many Warlord Titans as they can.

- Try and configure each Titan for specific tasks, such as Anti-Infantry, or Anti-Tank, etc. Mono task Titans are easier to use than generalist Titans (although they are admittedly less flexiable).

- You will lack for Anti-Aircraft power, so invest in some Thunderbolt fighters and Carapace Multilasers.

- Don't let your lighter Titans get isolated and destroyed piecemeal by the enemy, leaving you with just your Battle Titans, and nothing quick enough to threaten enemy objectives.

The main thing you will need other than the Epic rulebook is, of course, the Titan Legion army list, which can be found here: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... 22;t=16206

Welcome to GW's most Titanic Wargame system. :)

Welcome aboard the good ship Epic.

Evil&Chaos is currently working on the AMTL army list so I would search out his latest version of the AMTL, download it and have a read. Thoughts vary with regard to a sensible titan force, in small (3000pt) games you will certainly not need more than 1 Warlord, but some people play with upto 3 Reavers.

Play style and experience will probably change what you choose over time, although I would recommend investing in some Warhounds as they make the difference for me.

Edit: Beaten to it.

What do you guys recommend out of personal preference to the All reavers or some Reavers, some warhounds, and a Warlord?

I'll go look for the list now, thanks :D

Also, I'm very vocal against Gav Thorpe.

Gav Thorpe actually did me the favour of reading some Adeptus Titanicus rules I wrote and even offered me some detailed suggestions/advice (which showed that he really did read and consider the rules), so I'm a fan of his. :)

After what he did to the Chaos codex, it will take a long time for me to actually like what he does.

Regardless, I'm having a bit of confusion looking over this new rule setting out of 40k and into Epic.

gah

The best way to get to grips with starting Epic is probably to play the introductory scenarios in the rulebook... they use Space Marines rather than Titans, but they'll quickly teach you the basics of the rules.

Thanks :D

now I have to figure out what kind of army I want.

You wouldn't happen to know off the top of your head where some decent to good example army lists are on this board would you?

I'd recommend instead that you try playing with the lists a little and see what you can create.

It's notable that in Epic, army lists are much less important than a player's skill at the game... something that many would argue is inverted in some other GW wargames (not without a good and pressing 'approachability' reason, I might add).

Another approach would be to check out the Battle Reports and do a search for "AMTL".

You'll find a lot of reports with the Big Machines and get a feel for other people's choices.

Well now, that's a wonderful new thing.  You are dead on correct about that too, especially for 40k, now it's less about skill but who can take the most cheezed out army list and then who can bend the rules the most without breaking them.

I was asking because I wanted to see examples of how this game is setup, not copying another players work.  I'm looking very happily into a mostly Reaver formation with some Warhounds as flankers and either anti-air carapace guns or a few squadrons of air support.

Fluff question, how hard was it to come up with your own Forgeworld name and background?  I've got a Legion name already, I was in the middle of making /tg/'s own personal Titan legion to supplement it's personal 8 Space Marine custom chapters, but I'm a chaos Player, and I have to throw additional storywork into it on how a Titan Legion managed to survive thousands of years.

If you want to see some set ups I'd follow Chromas advice about the battle reports. I also have posted some pictures on the Wiki side of the site which might give you some clues.

For the army list, I used an official Titan Legion and Forgeworld, the War Gryphonnes of Gryphonnicus IV, a Forgeworld that was destroyed by Tyranids.

All eaten by Tyranids, after a ridiculously huge battle of Titans & Skitarii versus a Hive Fleet attack.
