I, for one, am fine with the "Limited Edition" thing.  :)  Consider the scorn we fans have heaped on GW over the last decade or so for releasing games, then not supporting them or dropping them altogether.  By telling the consumer up front not to expect any support or expansions, GW are doing the honest thing, which I appreciate.  I'd be royally pissed-off if I bought a game expecting expansions like Deathwing, or Orks, or whatever, and they never came... This way, I pays my $100, I knows what I get. As my friends in the UK say, "It does exactly what it says on the tin."

Its a shame the rumours of moulded plastic corridor sections from a while back seem not to have been true.

After I pre-ordered my copy I started looking around for third-party terrain systems that would work with Space Hulk, here's what I've found so far:

* Ainsty SF via Old Crow Models
* Dwarven Forge SF sets
* Hirst Arts Starship Basic Interiors (see also: Project Hulk)
* Home made SH terrain

I'm sure there's more out there.

Litko has a nice collection of corridors, too, though it is somewhat pricey.

I'm really surprised by the "ho-hum" reaction of some GW gamers over the release.  The newb fanboys are just calling it an "old game" while even some seasoned players recently commented to that it was a boring game!  OMG, are they talking about the same game here even?  Maybe second edition SH, LOL.

Boring? Maybe I'm a masochist, but I've loved every single game. I am pretty sure that I have yet to win a game, but still, by great golly gosh! It is a stonker of a game! Pure and unadulterated stonker! It is whiz, fab and groovy. Funkadelic, majestic, awesomo and grand.

In other words, I'm a raving fanboy.

Anyone know what set of rules it's based on? I've ordered a copy already but consensus seems to be 1st edition rules were far superior.

It looks like it might be a reworked 1st edition with assault cannons and libbys for I believe the deathwing expansion.

Since a timer and a Librarian are included, I'm guessing it's based on 1st edition. I certainly hope so.

Judging from the pictures this is definitely not 28mm ...

Seems to be a new article on the GW site about the box contents today:

Cool! It looks there are several different Terminators, unlike 1st edition which had only one pose.

Yeah, apparently every Terminator is a different sculpt, which is very cool...

I rang my local GW today, as they have a shop copy; they said the minis were the normal size. But I still want to see them for myself!

I think the price is a disgrace and a outrage, I got the 1st ed for $80 Aussie dollars, there is no way on this planet am I going to pay $165 Aussie dollars for this game, even though its a awesome game.

8v)

About pricing in France:

1st Edition: ~60€
2nd Edition: ~75€
3rd Edition: 78€

So price increase between 2nd and 3rd Edition is not that big.

Really? In Germany:
1st Edition: No idea
2nd Edition: about 50€ (exactly it was 99DM, and 1€ is worth 1.95something of the old DM)
3rd Edition: 78€

So for me it's a more dramatic price increase.

But if you don't get it, think of how sorry you will be later than you didn't!  I may buy a second copy too.

When was second edition released? Remember you also have to calculate inflation ...

I like it as a game. It works well, keeps the interest level high and the tension up. I dont have illusion about it being some perfect game, but for a good afternoon of fun that you have a hope of getting 'non-gamers' involved in, it is good fun. I have had good times as well as a few boring games with Space Hulk, but often it depends mostly on who you are playing more than the actual system.

It looks like it might be a reworked 1st edition with assault cannons and libbys for I believe the deathwing expansion.

Well, the fact that all dice are 'standard' and dont have the icon on them indicates that it is based on first edition. Common rumour is that the new set consists of a (minor?) reworking of first edition and Deathwing in a single box, which would make sense.

Judging from the pictures this is definitely not 28mm ...

It has been stated by those who claim to know (on other boards) that this is certain standard GW 28mm heroic scale. Also, since the two sets of miniatures are in different colours, they must be cast on seperate sprues, which would make sense if GW were to sell these minis as a seperate figure box set as well. Since it seems that the profit margin is in the figures and not the cardboard, this would seem a perfectly sensible thing to do, and therefore be logical to cast them at standard 28mm scale.

All of this is just conjecture, and based on GW-elluding logic, however - but it would seem the most likely path to me.
