When I played Gavin in the lead-up to the tournament he slaughtered me (although ironically, we did run out of time and had to call the game before the end of turn 3... the writing was on the wall though).

A) Time, as it really requires quite carefull planning and positioning Ginger never got to the end of most games, with them running out of time at the end of 3 turns without any clear winner.

Hmmm... that an interesting meta-effect for timed Tournament play; did Ginger take it in to consideration at all while building the army?  Could he have been a little more "fast and loose" with such and army and still achieved a good effect?

I assume the "quite carefull planning and positioning" is in setting up clips and such, though I've found Jetbikes to be effective "direct" assault units, essentially flying Marines if you don't use the armour reduction suggestion.

Can't talk for ginger but in our game he spent turn 1 setting up for combined assaults then executed them in turn 2. Now his dice meant that over half of these massive assault didn't quite work as expected.

Looks like my score was wrong in one of the rounds, so I have a 3rd place trophy that should correctly be Kev's.

Yes, after matching up pairings and checking with players Mark seems to have been given Andy H's result from game 3.

As Mark has said this means he drops to 4th and Kevin steps up to 3rd. None of this has been confirmed/looked at by the BHGS but I'm 99% confident it is correct.

Andy, it just means you have a bigger gap between 12th and 13th!

In other news the official "winner" of the right to use the Dice of Dave® at their next tournament is Chris S. Maybe you didn't need to go buy those new dice after all

What army did Joe have?

(Note, he didn't stick it up - having a life so not obsessively looking at the internet is clearly not the reason, he must have been looking for every edge! :) )

Congrats Joe and when will we see the Imperial Guard you talked about (always nice to have a new army win best painted)?

Yep I was dropping behind in the epic championship so any advantage  :)

My new tank heavy guard army will be getting whooped at the epic UK GT at the end of the year.

The list I used was a fairly standard marine list.

Tacticals + Supreme Commander + Hunter + Razorback
Devastators
Scouts + Razorback
Scouts + Razorback
Terminators + Captain
Terminators
Bikes + Chaplain
Whirlwinds
Landing Craft
Thunderhawk
Thunderhawk
Warhound
Warhound
Thunderbolts
Thunderbolts

Proved very effective and adaptable.

I had much the same experience in my game vs ginger, a lot of scary multi-formation assaults were staged in turn 2, which largely seemed to bounce off (again the dice weren't his friend), having said that the high mobility and sheer activation count were able to deny all but one objective (the BTS, which mostly got crushed under the feet of a Ravager titan). Scary list to face with a bit more luck it could have really cleaned up.

Right, all the Epic UK Championship pages have been updated with the results from Britcon.

As far as I can tell they are correct but I'm sure the eagled eyed readership of this forum will let me know were I've got something wrong!

So I've done the statistics and written my blog on britcon.....were is everyone else's reports

Victory!  :vD

But the new dice are green and live in a bag with an Elder Sign upon it. It must work as:
Old dice: played 4 lost 4
New dice under the influence of the Elder Sign: played 2 drawn 2.

But it was worth the entrance fee for the last game against Matt A alone: two great gargants facing each other across the battlefield with an empty road between them and virtually every other unit on the battle field gunning for the opposing war machine. Truly Epic!

Yes, this picture show some of that contest

At the time I just remember thinking, Now that's Epic! Basically two 4,000 point armies lined up opposite each tearing chunks off the opposition Gargant. Props to both you and Matt for actually going for this deployment!

I have a question for all the players at Britcon. 8 out of the 15 lists had Reaver or bigger titans in their list.

How many times did your titan die? And how many times was it really close to death?

I'm going to discount the encounter above! I'm sure its no surprise to anyone that both Gargants in that clash were destroyed!

Well most people ignored my great gargant, most it lost was a couple of shields.  However I did rack up some titan kills
vs Matt A - took out the great gargant
vs Kev - took out the warlock, admittedly very luck first shout with big gun to take out the holofiled
vs Mark P - took out the reaver, last rally phase saw last two points of damage due to reactor damage
