They look like part of a human hive.

That being said, I do think the dome tree idea will work, but like I said, I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it this week.

Come on, you mean you don't just do this exclusively?  Lazy dog.  :vD

How about a World Spirit Well?  THAT would be tough and probably big, but would be the center piece to any Exodite planet.  Several shallow, curving staircases leading to an intricately carved well in the center.  It could be laid out in such a way to make it mold as a single piece too.

Well, as work has been pretty busy, I haven't spent much time on all things epic this week. I do think I'll find some time to draw this weekend, though.

About eldar buildings: I have all of the eldar codices and several other sources of background art. I have to say, though, most of the buildings depicted are pretty ugly and uninspired. Designing one-off structures is simple enough, but bringing them together into a unified 'city' usually ends in a muddled mess. Eldar are supposed to be masters of aesthetics, so I infer that every structure they create would jive with the surrounding structures and land. Individual buildings would have divergent forms, but taken together all the structure would blend into a cohesive whole.

Therein lies the challange: creating unique individual structures that can be placed along side each other to create a city that is more than the sum of its parts (as opposed to looking like a bunch of crazy-straws jammed into trhe ground next to each other). Most of the existing background art usually falls into the crazy-straw category.

That being said, I do think the dome tree idea will work, but like I said, I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it this week.

Well sema ... you design'm & I'm sure that mammal in TX can make'm ... :)  And I sure the locals here would like some ... :)  "It you make them ... "  Well you know the rest ... :D

Okay folks, it's been a while since I posted any updates to my project, so...

Well, I just ordered prints from printapart of all of the items shown so far in this thread.

I still have several structures that I want to create, but those will come when I get the time/urge to work on them.

What's left to do:
1) gate of vaul (large webway gate)
2) solar sail array (eldar power station)
3) world stone cairns (blatant stone hinge rip-off)

I'm also still toying with the idea of the dome tree. The main reason I'm not 100% sure I'll go ahead with the concept is that it is going to be hard to fit it in the scale of the other structures I've made. The way I see it, if I keep it about the same size as the rest of my things, then it will be equivalent to a mansion (which I don't think fits thematically with epic or exodites or 40k in general). If I make it big enough to actually be equivalent to the existing epic buildings, then it's just going to be a huge undertaking.

Still, it doesn't mean I won't give it a try, it's just that there are things ahead of it in the queue.

As for the 'spirit well' Moscovian suggested, I think the stone-hinge thing will be my equivalent. I'm not sure I can make a model that implies a deep pit without using alot of material to build up around the circumference. And then you risk making it look like a cartoony ant hill shape. Istead, my idea is for a bunch of standing cairn stones arranged in a U-shape on a 60mm base, with some focal point at the center of the base, like an altar or a clump of [epic-scale] giant crystals.

Received semajnollissor's mighty package of PrintAPart thingies on Wednesday. He's definitely hardcore.

As things get cast I will post pictures of the bare resin here. Should I? Maybe.

Okay, I don't have anything to post yet, but rest assured that as soon as I have casts in hand, I will photograph and post them here. In the meantime, I'm still drawing a few things, and I will post renders of those as I get them finished.

Lack of progress is my fault. Some of Semaj's creations are difficult to get air flow through.

The silo mold is working, though, bunker stocks are solid, and I poured the first half of the sensor dome orbs (?) yesterday.

The aesthetics are rather pleasing.
