We dusted the Classic Battletech off and played a game today; 3 players each with two mechs. Mech class and gunnery/pilot skills were randomly generated. Inner Sphere 3025 tech.
Player 1
Assault mech - Awesome (Pilot skill 5, Gunnery skill 5 [teh suxx!])
Medium mech - Ostol (Pilot skill 4, Gunnery skill 4)
Player 2
Assault mech - Stalker (Pilot skill 5, Gunnery skill 3)
Light mech - Firestarter (Pilot skill 5, Gunnery skill 4)
Player 3 (me)
Heavy mech - Catapult (Pilot skill 5, Gunnery skill 4)
Medium mech - Wolverine (Pilot skill 4, Gunnery skill 4)
Player 1 deployed in the upper left, Player 2 in upper right and myself down on the islands.

From the start I decided to engage the mad gunner in the Stalker.

Got a bit ganged up on as I pressed with my Wolverine, even stumbled once when hit with 20+ points of damage in a round from a failed pilot check.

My catapult reigned LRM fire down on the enemy round after round.

I pushed Player 2 back into his corner of the map, while Player 1 moved his lumbering Awesome into the game. His Ostol (represented by a Jenner mech) had a surprise in the form of a non-standard weapon - a PPC!). He harassed the little Firestarter and mad him run for the comfort of the Stalker.

Things get crowded in the corner.

Bowling for mechs! Player was forced to retire from teh game due to lack of sleep, he was probably up for about a day and a half thanks to work.

The Wolverine suffered a shut down in game due to excessive heat 9engine hits suck) which left the Catapult to fend for himself. The catapult dealt some damage out but suffered double gyro hits and crumpled in the water.

The Wolverines failed to get back online a second turn and that just spelled disaster as targeted shots ended up taking his gyro out also (he had two heat sinks left anyway).

No mech walked away in any condition to brag; the Firestarter was blown literally half-away while the Stalker could have been brought down by a strong breeze as it had no armor and very little structure left, only a few weapons survived also.
The lighting was awful and the shiny map sheets don't help so the pics rather suck. I told them we should have used 3D terrain!
