I think the toe slot in the armor should taper more, right now it seems a little short and stubby.

I agree, going to try that on the new piece.

Here's the foot concept:
Currently doesn't have the front armour plating on, which will bulk out the bottom of the leg a lot.

I'd go with slightly smaller toes ; feels a bit ED209 to me.

Those toes might not look quite so over-sized with the shin armour on, though.

Quite, I agree, kind of depends on the shin armour, which is frustrating for JL a he has to do the big bit before he knows if the little bit works!

I reckon those would look fine poking out from underneath a larger piece of shin armour.  Also, is the armour going to cover the knee joints like a knee pad or will it stop just short of them? I know some of your mock ups have had cut outs by the joints implying there wouldn't be knee pads/knee guards, but just wondering.

I really like the look of the Lucius' exposed knee joint, so wasn't planning on putting a knee pad, also the "dog-leg" shape of that joint makes a pad difficult, but we'll see how the aesthetics work once the lower leg is solved.

Here's a preliminary Armour plate to go on:

In Transformers 2, Megatron lands on a skyscraper and his lower legs and 'toes' are HUGE. I think big toes will be fine as long as the shin armour is suitably scaled.

Mmm...he has massive tank tracks on them, which he very sadistically runs over Starscreams face at one point.

JonLuke: is it too late to add tracks to the Warlord's feet?  Maybe he could also change into a semi-truck.

Then I would buy 100.  :p

Hmm. One of the things I really like about the FW Mars Reaver is that it has knee-pads.

Yeah but the idea is sound - overly large motion devices on the bottom of a robot's feet do look well.

Maybe the pad could partially extend over the knee from the thigh armour rather than from the shin armour, a bit like the way the Lucuis thigh armour currently does?

That's if JL is going the way of knee pads of course, I'm sure it can work well either way.
