the imperator is in, so the mega should most definately be in.

It's not in.  It's in an in-development list and it hasn't been proven.  I don't want to include a Mega until there is more conclusive evidence that it will actually work.

why would we want to restrict a model we already have?

If it doesn't work in play, then it doesn't work.  It's not a matter of wanting to restrict a model.

make it pricey, make it inflexible, make it fit the game however you can, just let me run the damn thing!

You can run a Megagargant right now.  It's just not necessarily balanced for the GT scenario.  If you're playing an experimental list, you'll need your opponent to agree anyway.  So play with it.

And if you do, please let us know how it goes.  With good playtesting, it might make it into the main list.

This is a copy of a post I made in the AMTL imperator titan post.

Something I think may be worth considering is removing the Mega-Titans from the tournament lists and put them in their own supplement.

It's something you agree to before the game and both players get to pick from the range of Mega-Titans presented and/or additional anti-titan weapons.

In it you'd get the current Imperator, Warmonger and Mega-Gargant. Then you could add (make up) other races larger titans like the Lugganath Magnate, a new Tyranid Bio-Titan and C'Tan. You could also add more specialist anti-titan weapons and variant Titan weapon load-outs for existing titans.

It would also be a good place for alternate titan damage tables and things like titan splitting fire rules.

Example
Vortex Grenade, 50pts - A single formation gets a single shot additonal CC attack at 2+ Tk(D6)

ok i picked up the models i need to start my bigmob, i have a few questions:

1. i am taking some big gunz, a base formation if 5 big gunz, if i buy the big mek i can turn on of the guns to a soopa zap gun right? is this just for the cost of the mek (50)? or does the soopa gun cost something as well?

1b. big gunz with e mek can garrison right?

2. i have a formation of lootas, just a base formation of 6 boyz, 2 grotz and a unot fo nobz. i buy 4 gunwagons and 5 flak wagons, thats enought to mount the entire formation right?

also, any general tips for running the big mob? i know ill be low in activations, but i think thats just an army drawback meant to be there.

here is what i have to work with if anyone is curious:

1 mega gargant
2 great gargants
3 gargants
1 super stompa
10 stompas
8 dreds
4 killa kans
9 bommas

loota unit (6 boyz, 2 grotz, 1 nobz, 4 gunwagon, 5 flak wagon)
gunz mob (4 big gunz plus mek withy soopa zap)
gunz mob (4 big gunz plus mek withy soopa zap)

thanks

Just a question with regards the Mega-Gargant in 2.2.

It lists Krusha as Assault Weapon TKd6.

It doesn't mention Extra Attacks. Is that an omission or intentional?

Under current rules, doesn't that therefore mean that it gets 18 of these? Waaagh! Orks!

The cost of the Mek.

1b. big gunz with e mek can garrison right?

Yep.  Adding a character doesn't change the underlying unit characteristics.  If it can garrison, it can garrison after you add a character.

2. i have a formation of lootas, just a base formation of 6 boyz, 2 grotz and a unot fo nobz. i buy 4 gunwagons and 5 flak wagons, thats enought to mount the entire formation right?

Yep.

I'd suggest using Battlewagons instead of Gunwagons.  They can carry 2 boyz/nobz and has "bonus" slots for Grots, so you can either buy fewer of them to be cheaper or have extra transport capacity (or some combination of the two).  The longer range on the Gunwagons isn't of much use as everything else in the formation has 30cm range.  At 30cm or less, the Battlewagon packs better firewpower as well.  You might keep one or two Gunwagons for long-range BM placement, but no more than that.

It is.

In my experience, you can go light on the upgrades for the Gunzmobs.  You will have lots of MW and TK from the gargants, so it's not really needed.  Also, the Big Gunz are pretty fragile compared to other places you can put the Meks.  The points are better spent on upgrading the gargants themselves or objective-grabbing formations.  You'll need some tough, cheap activations to take objectives and/or initiate assaults with Gargant support (if you can manage to arrange that).

Yeah, it's a typo.

It just depends on what you're facing.  They can throw massive TK downrange if you're facing something that will be good against.  However, I really like the large barrages.  Even against lists where the extra area coverage is wasted (Eldar and SM, for example).  Getting 3BM just for coming under fire can quickly add up to a broken unit.

And it can just *erase* broken formations that foolishly stay too close.

i think im just gonna roll with the basic gargants until i get a feel for them.

what sort of low cost stuff i decent in the list? i have the 2 gunz units and the loota unit, but i figure bommas are pretty cheap as well.

Snappa mobz are cheap.  The walkers have decent FF for Orks and they can garrison.  You can also load them in Landas - 2 Dreads, 6 kanz, 225 points. (I think it was Nicodemus that did a batrep with a bunch of Snappa air assaults when trying to convince me to lower the point cost).

The Mega is a problem, as we've discussed.  It's always been noticeably inferior to the Imperator and smaller.  Scaling it with the other gargants puts it on par and/or larger.  That just feels wrong to me.

However, more important than my personal hangups based on rather old background material and fluff, I still have the serious doubts I described above about what you can really do with a ~1200 point WE in the GT scenario.

And worse than that its an awful model!
