The FW Leman Russ is about the right height, but is about 15-20% too thin ; I reckon I can do better than the FW Leman Russ.

That's the Mars Alpha alright, though that's actually a (non Mars Alpha style) Vanquisher turret on it. That was an early one they painted I think.

They later released 6 proper Mars Alpha turrets, they're on FWs site, amongst the Krieg section. Pictures of the Mars Alpha with the proper turret can be seen here; http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/dkkmalr.htm
As TRC said the profile of the main body section is different; it's longer, lower and better detailed. The new turrets are the biggest change though - they're much nicer and more detailed :)

Their Epic Russes are indeed too thin, I'd definitely suggest basing it on the FW model and scaling down by 5.

Interestingly I have already created that battlecannon design once for the Malcador.

Hm, that Hellhound might be fun to do in the future. But for now theres...

Convenience chassis
APC plug-in for convenience chassis
Engineering vehicle plug-in for convenience chassis (to work with Saltshaker artillery)
Tankette plug-ins
Exodus Wars round 2
Exodus Wars big tank
Exodus Wars really really big tank
Vaygr looking BC
Vaygr looking lance fighter (redesign)
Oppressively Combined Three Legged Flea Walker
Zombie Robot flying surfboarders

And then maybe theres...
More Starfire ships
More Homeworld ships
More Nectaris tanks

And if "certain people" don't start making them available...
Zombie Robot Big Pointy Brick

Oh yeah. The Mighty CAL has been trying to talk me into Non-Ordered, Disordered, or Unruly blocky, walking robots.

Yes.

My current project list is:

1 - Twin gun artillery tank (almost complete)
2 - Small Walking Robot (Martian Pattern)
3 - Leman Russ (including variants)

*swoon*

All this should hopefully be ready before I get a job and therefor whatever needed to obtain the entire otter effort to date. Considering the way the cabinet office is dealing with me, take your time :)

Vaygr looking BC

Oh dearest otter, is there perchance a full set of homeworld ships anywhere, yours and theirs? Such a thing would convince me to dust off some spaceship rules and try 'em (but what rules? Full thrust or keep it GW simple?).

Also have you tried approaching the homeworld guys? Saying you are going to make models of the ships for your own personal use and would they like a set (who knows, they probably would if you talk to one of the designers) and maybwe even ask about what a different company would have to do if it wanted the rights to sell them? If it all goes right (which it rarely does) and you have some ships to show to impress they might even pay you :)

Also homeworld wise can the ships themselves from H2 be ported into any design software, or converted at the switch of a button. Its all computery says the expert so maybe someone out there knows how if its none of us.

I was looking at my hell hammer barrels this morning and thinking the same thing...

Most probably just the stock three of Vanquisher, Russ and Demolisher.

Heya TRC, apologies for the delay.

On the issue of engineering vehicles, my current plan is to make it very Trojany. Would you like a duplicate of the cute little crane, or some variant of a real world recovery crane?

On the issue of Homeworld ships, no, I haven't talked to anybody at Relic about that. My plan is to tinker with some fighters and a capital ship, to get the feel of the stuff.

The current methodology is this:
First, I find a WRL formatted file online. This contains the geometry for the ship, and a 'skin', essentially a graphic wrapping for the geometry. The skin actually contains most of the detail.

Then, I use Rhino to save the WRL file to OBJ format. Since I'm using the demo version of Rhino, I have a limited number of file saves, so another solution will be needed.

Then I use a special file converter to get the OBJ into 3DM format for MoI, the modelling program that I use.

Some real labor comes here - the converter just converts the line segments, and not any sort of planar or solid information. So, I have to manually create zillions of planar surfaces out of the lines. The battlecruiser took me about 4 hours of manual labor. I'm considering approaching Frenchy Pilou of the MoI community for help with a script. Either I'll commission him or write my own.

The next step is to stare at the skin and add detail to the now-solid model. This can take as much or as little time as I wish, but I prefer to have at least some detail inherent to the model, rather than rely on the painter to do so.

Exodus Wars round 2
Exodus Wars big tank
Exodus Wars really really big tank

We'll also be slipping in there, a Guild multirole fighter craft and a Guild EW (Electronic Warfare not Exodus Wars... but for Exodus Wars) craft.

Then new race...
