Ok, so i just spent the entire night painting terrain and making more scenery for a up coming comp, and im hyped up on enough sugar to solve a small countries economic problems, and was pondering the thought of what kinda of mis happs  or disaters have become our unfortunate community (No F/W mentioning either).

Mine was about a month ago i had just spent an entire night painting a assualt detachemnt for a game the next day top make up numbers, and after about 3 hours of work and getting it all up to par with the rest of the army,i went to bed a happy man.  10 minutes before thegame why i was unpacking my army a good friend of mine was looking at the marines and clipped the stands of assualt marines  with his sleeve, and in his bungling grace and poetic movements, managed to stand with the foot of gork and crush the last breath from every single mighty marine.
It was a sad day.

I have none that would come close to that.

Did you have much difficulty disposing of the body?

How do you intend to keep your friend's body from stinking up the box?

At the behest of a friend...

There is one guy in our gaming group who tends to borrow figures. I have no problem loaning out armies, as I know the hassle of transporting them for those that do, and the financial considerations, for those who don't.

In approximately 30 games of loanings, I've lost two figures to errancy. Except in the two games 'he' has played, I've lost 6. He seems to think that the appropriate way to move a figure, is to push down on it, and force it forward (kinda like an air hockey puck). I would have thought after the first Land Speeder he might have been more careful, but that wasn't to be. After breaking three Land Speeders (two into three pieces), I snatched the remainder back and replaced them with 1st Edition Sprue ones.

I am just glad he has only played with painted units once, and that's the last time too. When fielding metal based (EW) infantry, common sense would seem to be 'pick up by the base'. Not 'pick up by a single infantry's head'. The obvious happened, the glue snapped, dropping the base to the table, severely bending a second infantry.

Oh well, c'est la vie.

Dropping the mini you’ve just finished painting directly into an open pot of chaos black is always interesting... Ive managed to do this twice now and can never quite work out how (both times with the older screw top citadel pots). The first was a LOTR metal Elrond, head first, some time ago. The second was an epic robot about a year ago. :sigh:

Newly painted 6k Epic IG army in a GW carry case, I get out of the car in the dark car park, go round to passenger side, pick up carry case - forgetting I checked I had objectives apcked at last minute. Turn away from car and find that the case isn't 'locked' as IG cascade over car park.

After quite a while scrabbling around in the dark I managed to find everything apart from 3 right hand wings from the Valkyries.

I melted some resin miniatures the other day in brake fluid...:-(! They're 'kind of' alright now but too fragile to game with...

I seem to remember Morgan had just recieved the exact number of Imperial Robots (the old ones) that he needed. While looking at one, I dropped it down the sink. After about 5 mins trying to get it out, I gave up.

About 2 weeks later, I was able to replace it with a stash I was able to find off ebay.

So embarrassment.

Carrying armies between tables on trays is another source of the grown-men-crying syndrome.

AFAIK we already have a thread like this, with quite a nice number of disasters that happened to the members of our community. It was really funny, but I don't remember its name. It is actually quite new, probably only a few monhs old.

Mine happened about this time last year.  I just recieved a large box of Epic from a trade, and decided that I would assemble and paint up 1 Ork gargant from the old boxed game.  While not the best of painters, I was pleased with my work, and retired that night a happy man.  The next day I woke to find my son holding a handful of pieces from the gargant.  He is young(and I didn't put the gargant far enough out of his reach), and wanted to see if it was articulated.  I couldn't put humpty back together again, but the bits & pieces made nice debris terrain.
