Strange that in the old 40K Chaos Codex they Daemon Princes where vastly more powerful than the Generic Greater Daemons... and of comparative size too. This whole new fangled idea that has creped in that they should be smaller than the minions just doesn't do it for me. I prefer to use the terms Daemon, Daemon Princling (Your version of the Daemon Prince), Greater Daemon and then Greater Daemon Prince. Anything else is just a forced cobbled bodge by GW IMO.
EDIT: I prefer my own cobbled bodge anyday.
Ah but that Codex Chaos from the 2nd edition of a W40k was a pale, timid shadow of Chaos’s former true glory in the
Realm of Chaos books. If anyone wants to really understand Chaos those are what you should read (naughty copies can be found online if I’m allowed to say that) and in them Daemon Princes are subordinate to, and less powerful than, the Greater Demons. I guess possibly when writing the 2nd ed codex they were influenced by the Demon Primarches from epic in changing the demon princes to be more powerful, but it wasn’t how they were originally, or have been since, it was just a temporary blip. Enough justification for you to go with your idea of having them that way, but really
that was the new fangled idea.
I have been persuaded not to use the model as an infantry demon prince (if I get it at all – I’d probably have to pay silly money on ebay). If I ever do use it in the army it will count as something appropriately bigger.
