For those people who have been playtesting the Mossinians, I request some thoughts on how you think the list stands up.

In your opinion, is it ready?

Well, considering that, I believe, only two people have actually been doing any open playtesting with it, I'd have to say no.

Especially as the "number of 'Preachers'" haven't been resolved yet, for one thing and one playtester had been playing with 1 Heavy Stubber per two units while the other was playing 1 Heavy Stubber per one unit..  I don't think there's been enough time to tst the current batch of changes... and, personally, I still don't think there's been enough changes.

It's still ridiculously too close to Siegemasters, and ridiculously popcorn, just like their inspiration.  Perhaps if the formations had different sizes.  I'm still not sure why the core Infantry Company only has nine Infantry units... that's the number in the Barans list to represent years of attrition, if anything, the "fairly fresh and infused with PDF traitors" Mossinian Companies should be larger, perhaps even the "normal" twelve units of Infantry.

I believe some heavy changes should be made to make it its own unique list.

I'm sure Rug will disagree.

This is an interesting suggestion, and not one that I'm intrinsically opposed to.

It seems to fit with the background, and also helps differentiate the Mossinians from the Barans.

Pity there's not more playtesters getting involved, gaming and posting up reports...

I'd like to start generally helping a bit with list development in a few months (VASSAL or real), but I need free time and to get back into playing the game first.

How about this
Mossinian (Tegimental HQ) Infantry Company = (Supreme) Commander + 14 Infantry units.

Mossinian Heavy Tank Company = 10 Mossinian Ragnarok Heavy Tanks
Mossinian Light Tank Company = 10 Mossinian Siegfried Scout Tanks

Its going to be hard on vassal. Not sure what you could use for fortifications right now. Guess you could put down infantry units of a set colour to make the correct sizes?

Can you not build a map image with fortifications-as-scenery?

All you need then is a rectangle painted grey. :)

You could use some buildings I suppose, but you can't scale anything. Its all pre set terrain pieces. You can change the base colour of infantry and as that's a known size (40x10ish !) you could make the stuff the right size.

The epic module is up for a rebuild but with no release date. I'll add a request for bunkers/fortifications on the vassal40K forum.

Chroma, why do you always write my name in bold? Not sure how I should be reading it!

I try to write *everyone's* name in bold, right E&C?

It's something I picked up on the Fark.com forums, lets other readers know who's being talked to... or about... *laugh*

I'm back! I can test things! Ben, when are you free to play! Book me now (bar next Tuesday as I'm probably meeting Gareth - still I'll be at the cock if you want to come and no reason why I can't play two games)! And not for Charing cross unless you are prepared to a) clear a space for me, b) pay the difference in any rounds of drinks between the two pubs and c) pay the money you have to front to actually play there :)
Bear in mind I have read nothing yet, so these comments are a decade old.
Siege 'companies' aren't. They are actually platoon strength. The original list I did renamed them platoons for that reason.

Saying all that there is nothing wrong with slapping a mandatory infantry platoon onto them, then costing them at 250 (see how rusty I am, is that the right number for a platoon plus an infantry upgrade?)?

The downside is reduced activations, the upside is an upgrade slot free and tougher infantry companies.

I'll look over everything else over lunch!

I'm busy most Tuesday evenings, though I may have some free soon in which case I'll hop along to the Cock... I haven't been to Charing Cross in six months or so due to not having Tuesdays free (Pulsar & a few other Epic gamers still go there though).

I've been gaming at GW Wood Green on a Wednesday as they have a seperate games room upstairs away from the shop floor.
