Just curious: backgroundwise is it still in use in the 40,000 millenium? And would that be regular use or a rarity?

How much can it hold and how big would it be? Much bigger than the current Marine Dropship?

From the fluff I've read and remember, SBs are sleeker (aka not boxy) than THs and have a front loading ramp and folding wings. I can't remember if their size relative to a TH was ever stated.

Vaaish: Yup, that's the one I was thinking of too. Perhaps not a stormbird, but it could be turned into a pretty nice model for sure, if it got updated to look more in style with the current 40k stuff.

I don't think the Stormbird is still being used in the 40th millenium. I think there is some reference in one of the HH books that the Stormbird was in the process of being phased out and replaced with the Thunderhawk, despite being bigger than the TH.

As far as I'm concerned 'rarity' isn't an issue. There could be plenty stashed in the warp after the heresy; and, us Epic types recreate heresy conflicts all of the time, yes?

Edit - keep in mind that whatever we make, it has to be affordable to 3D print.

Well didn't this generate alot of chatter. That is the black and white I sent off to O'man and is the basis of what I am looking for. I dont think that the VTOL engine setup is what I am aiming at though. In the HH books it desribes them as bigger than a TH, so a larger troop compartment, possibly 60 troops to each, so 12 stands as opposed to the 8 of a TH. It also describes that it is well armed with underwing ordinance. To that end I was looking at the TH engine style, with high mounted wings, with a fold towards the ground at arround the 2/3 length area. I want to keep the front ramp from the picture with a small cockpit area above as depicted. The tail section from the picture seems to be more of a Lightning in construct, with a large central engine. Weaponry wise, I was thinkning forward mounted autocannons on mounts similar to modern TH deisn, some underwing gun mount to give it L/R and rear coverage and underwing pylons capable of bomb or missile carrige.

IIRC they have triangular wings too. Wasn't it mentioned in the first HH novel that each can hold 3 companies of marines?

Sounds a little big for a 3d print then, In fact it sounds a little big to realistically use in an average game of EA too Onyx' Venator Star Destroyer sounds closer to fitting the bill.
