Just a note on drybrushing space marine tanks; they have flat areas and recessed details, so drybrushing is much less effective than washing.

I start with the mid-tone (50:50 DA Green:Snot Green), and then carefully wash thin layers of the darker shade DA Green - concentrating on the detailed/recessed areas more with each pass. Finally, blend a few sharp highlights on with the lighter Snot Green. Takes a little longer (mostly the highlights and the drying time), but it suits short regular painting periods (like an hour each evening for example) well and only the highlights require you to be careful. I promise you it will look neater than drybrushing!

just some more rough test pieces (and awful pictures)

I think the bronze colour fits the salamanders better than boltgun metal

- I need to try the method mentioned in the previous post
- decide on final colour and pattern (where to put black, where metal)
- then start a better quality production

Well no two of my Salamanders vehicles look the same :)
I pain some areas black (doors, front, windshield-armour, etc) or leave them green. I paint the chapter symbol on different areas. I paint flames on different areas, etc.

Examples:

I'd like to see those Salamanders a little more closely Black Legion! They look great, but the pic is a little too bright.

some more units. painting quality not too good. too thick some places or too thin. Epic figures are totaly different from 28mm figures, I have to get used to this. Tried the darker goblin green+drybrush on one rhino.

Done 2 quick units of marines too. One scorpion green, one goblin green. No decor, no basing.

And also one ork blasta bommer for aeronautica imperialis. One was half painted when I got it, I just finished up. Some smaller things to do still. One bad moon plane basecoated + started.

Orks are looking good; as are the Salamanders; nice and simple and good to see you're highlighting the black too; i find bold highlights like that work really nicely in epic.

The boards have done their usual trick of replacing ampersands in URLs with html character references. The actual link should have been:

been a long time...

I have been away for the weekends and also been distracted by ork jetbikes, bots (see above), blasta bommers, bloodbowl teams etc.

I will continue the Salamanders force and also started a fully magnetized eldar titan with changeable weapons. (many thanks for Thomas and his friend for the titan!)

note to myself: next time mark those damned magnets, otherwise you will get a titan which pushes away the weapons and you need to figure out how to get the magnet out...    :_(  :_(
