Hi all!

I'm looking to get some additional (as many as I can!) Cadian Lasgun arm sets (so 'arm and gun' and associated 'arm') that people may have going spare.

Happy to negotiate prices - cash or potentially trade - would probably prefer to do cash. I do have large collections of all things 40K and Epic, so we could maybe sort something? In particular I have a large set of original E40k ruins available for trade if needs be...?

Cheers for looking,
H

I'd take a look on e-bay: I've noticed that there are a lot of bits like this on sale (and, IIRC, it's the legs that sell at a premium.)

That said, I'll keep it in mind myself... I have a box or two of Cadians I'm realizing I may never build.

I am a little curious, though.

Or you could try bits site, places like http://bitzbox.co.uk/ or http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk (the latter was the first I came across though the former seems to be a little better and more often stocked)

Thank you for the (speedy!) advice guys!

Carrington -
Ebay will be my next move if these posts don't work out - only one place seems to do IG arm sets reliably and that's in the US - not a huge problem but I may be able to get them cheaper/easier/help someone out by going the forum route.

I'm in the process of upgrading/remodeling a load of Catachans to have not super-muscled arms - which means Cadian arms with cut down sholder armour. I also need a few cadian torso's to swap out the few semi-naked ones from the catachans...! I was a sucker when the Catachans first came out - bought a few boxes, trying to make good of it now!

If you want to shift those unused Cadian bits, I'm only a PM away!  :)

GlynG -
Bits sites are good, I agree, but are often out of stock of many items. You have to be so quick (bearing in mind I'm on PC all day with newsletter updates!) to get in at restock its crazy. Both Bitzbox (excellent) and Bitsandkits (had bad order from them...) are out of stock on the arms.

I wonder if you might want to look at the Wargames Factory Celts for bare arms -- not sure if they'd fit...

That's the issue though (well, part of it) that I want smaller arms that are clothed. Personally I think they should at least be wearing shirts! I might add cloaks/smocks later but for now, smaller, clothed arms are the plan!

Interesting point.  I've read, by the way, that Catachan-style stripping, even in (or especially in) tropical climates, tends to be taken as a sign of diminished unit discipline and readiness, in part because bare arms, etc. tend quickly to lead to Malaria and invalidism.

Ironically, as such, Catachans as depicted by GW are either 'green' troops whose officers haven't learned to maintain discipline and hygiene, or troops sufficiently battle exhausted that Malaria/Dysentery, etc. seem to provide a comparatively pleasant opportunity to be invalided home.

Perhaps such miseries are spared the Sci-fi heroes of the future... but one suspects that a deathworld's mosquitos (and pricker bushes/ticks/leeches/every other gribblie that keeps a soldier wearing clothes) would only be worse...

By the way, what do you think of the Pig Iron miniatures?

Heh, all very interesting info! This was my intuitive thoughts as well - same principle with the unhelmeted/uncovered heads really. I'm replacing those with westwind productions separate heads which, imho, are excellent. The Catachans just look like crazed berzerkers rather than well trained, effective specilist troops. I'm hoping to losely base them on the Indian Counter Insurgency forces, as they looked pretty sharp after some image searching.

Anyway, we should stop all this talk of IG-style infantry though, it might tempt you into using those Cadians for your own armies!  :alien:  :;):

Edit: Missed your edit  :vo Pig Iron are most excellent - especially the separate heads. It was a toss up between those (the militia ones) and Westwind's heads, but went with Westwind due to larger range. I've got a hundred of 'um sat on the desk at home. Theres some really nice examples of people using pigiron vehicles and infantry in guard armies on various forums (e.g. dakkadakka) at the moment.

Bah! Dont you know that all Catachans are a cross between Rambo and Chuck Norris. Bugs, mites, and mosquito's dont mess with them! Besides, in the far future, the technology to create lightweight, breathable clothing, that wicks sweat away from the body and protects against bugs has been lost.

You are really trying to ruin my suspension of disbelief, arent you?

Hi, I'm just wondering if you're still up for this?  I've got a bunch of spare Cadian arms and I'd like to know more about the Epic ruins you have.  Are these the paper or the plastic ones?  And how many do you have?  Also, what other Epic stuff do you have?  I'll check tonight when I'm home how many arms I've got left, but it's quite a few.  BTW, I'm in Alberta, Canada.  Which area/country are you in?

Gregmita - that's great news! I have 3 untouched frames of the plastic ruins (or however many it is that comes in the boxset of Epic 40,000) but as they're now oop, I consider them reasonably valuable... :;):

I am in London, UK, but happy to post out to you. Let me know how many you have and we'll get something started! Good to hear from you!

Cheers,
H
