I’ve decided to locate my Space Marine Chapter (and having got it out of the box and based up after all these years it is pretty much a whole foot chapter, just lacking enough vehicles and air/fleet assets) the Solar Guard close to Forge World Ryza, distance-wise and in terms of links, since I already decided ages back that they have a thing for the old configuration of twin plasma-gun and lascannon razorback turrets (updated with a fiddly/expensive conversion also involving new style rhinos and turrets converted from new style las-predators – never liked the look of any of the official razorback models made), plus other plasma weapons prevalent and Ryza are definitely the Forge World of plasma variants.

Anyway, I’m really digressing, the Titan Legion that the internets tell me is based on Ryza - and which it might be nice to possibly paint mine as - are the Legio Crucius or Warmongers. It could be nice to then thematically and in background terms link my Marine and ATML armies, though would force me into taking lots of plasma weapons on the titans (are they good in game terms?). I came across Neal Hunt’s Titan Orders pdf on the homepage here after a bit of looking, but it looks like their schemes are blank and unlisted. Just wanted to check this is definitely the case or if anyone knows of any reference to paint-schemes or icons/banners anywhere for these? Perhaps since? Has GW/FW released new titan legion painting guides / schemes with all the titans you can buy these days? (or will that more likely come with the rumoured one day new FW titan game?)

If there is no official one I’m quite happy to come up with my own scheme and would probably prefer to (the only official ones I really like are the Warp Runners and Legio Metallica and both are a bit too popular for me really want to do mine as them), I just thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knew.

Ooh! Thanks for this Glyn; i never relaised there was an official titan legion on Ryza; that's where my guard army are from you see!
I'd therefore like to second Glyn's request for an official colour scheme. If we don't get one Glyn hows about working one out together? I'm using Mk4 Titans (so the current FW and SG ones) but would like to try finding something that captures the 'knightly' colours of legions of old; a bit like GW's new takne on the Warprunners for example; a mixture of bold heraldry and colours i guess...

The colors are orange with a pea-green trim. The legio markings are very paisley in design. They are also known for large, air-brushed pictures of wizards, landscapes, or unicorns along the chassis, deep shag carpeting, and tinted windows.

Was there not a picture floating round the interwebs of Silentbob in that exact outfit

OT: Sorry I can't help more than anyone else. With the lack of constructive responses on here I would just say go ahead with artistic license. Warmongers would suggest either steel / black / red angry and cold colours. Banners and icons maybe great hammers, war hammers or axes?

Titan Legion color scheme info is pretty sparse on the web. Even Titanicus and Mechanicum didn't have too much info on them.

I'd say make your own. There's a SM chapter called the Warmongers, but their color scheme looks pretty close to the Morning Stars:

Wow, they do look a lot like Morning Stars. I wonder which came first in fluff. I'm guessing Morning Stars.

A lot of SM chapters names also came from Legio names - Storm Lords, Imperial Fists to name a few (or possibly them all)

Morning Stars have been around since Adeptus Titanicus.

As for Warmongers I can't find any mention of them in any old WD articles or second edition Titan Legions book. This means they are listed either in some Citadel Journal back issue or Imperial armour vol.1. The latter I can check when back at home but I only own a couple of CJ issues.

That I knew already, but having never seen the Rogue Trader rules, I wasn't sure which came first.

Cheers for the replies guys

Looking again, the website I saw them on references The Warmongers as fighting in the Armageddon campaign and links to the now dead website for that, apparently they destroyed most of Hive Infernus in a fire-fight with two Gargant Bigmobz, oopsie    I’ve just checked the Armageddon Codex too and they're listed in the Imperial disposition there (under their Legio Crucius name) as having a Demi-Legion present, whatever one of those is.

Man of Kent: I'd therefore like to second Glyn's request for an official colour scheme. If we don't get one Glyn hows about working one out together?

Possibly yeah, if we could come up with something we both like. Too tired to now but maybe we should have a think and throw some ideas around?

I’m wanting something that will complement the armies I plan it could be fielded with – my Ad Mech troops will probably be mostly the traditional slightly dark red with metallics scheme, my Krieg will probably be dark grey or definitely a dark naturalistic colour, while the Solar Guard Space Marines I’m hoping to attempt (though I’m not sure how well on epic scale ones) are depicted below. They were the creation of one Byron Kauer apparently - who’s idea I’m nicking - and were the winner of a ‘design your own space marine chapter’ competition, the results of which were shown in White Dwarf 210. They’re a bit bright, but I like them and I’ve never seen a painted model one, so they’d be unusual.

I remember that competiton - jeez competitions in WD who'dathunkit? IIRC there was also an eagle-type chapter that was pretty cool, mostly brown with white helmet and yellow 'beak' respirator. These will be a inspiration for a Harkoni Hwak Warriors Drop Guard army at some point for me.

This is the Armageddon Cmapaign Text for Infernus Hive:

October 24,2000 - Under threat from the hordes of Ghazghkull Thraka himself, Infernus Hive has been reinforced with some of the most powerful Imperial formations on Armageddon. Most notably of all, Commissar Yarrick chose Infernus to be his own personal battleground against his sworn enemy Ghazghkull, fighting hand-to-hand in the trenches against waves of Ork Boyz and rallying Imperial troops with his righteous fervour.
The citizens of Infernus were forced to endure terrible privations during the siege, including constant bombardments from orbiting space hulks and the lumbering Gargants of Ghazghkull's horde. As the shelling relented, countless hordes of Greenskins streamed down from the Diablo mountains. Time and again the green tide smashed against the walls of Infernus, only to break and flow back before reforming and attacking again. With Yarrick as their saviour the citizens of Infernus were undaunted. Old men, women and children took up arms against the invaders, dragged ammunition to the redoubts and bunkers across the front lines, endured the bombing and strafing of Fighta-Bommerz as they toiled to dig secondary trench lines. Hive gang militias fought against Orks with equal ferocity, selling their lives to protect their homes. To the south-west, the Stygian Bulwark groaned under the pressure of countless warbands braving its guns and minefields to link up with the feral Ork tribes swarming out of the equatorial jungles to overrun the Infernus south forge complex.
After eight days of incessant fighting the beginning of the end was signalled by a blaze of distant fire on the southern horizon. The ground shook as the storm rolled closer, but when the Gargants pounding the hive turned away and moved south to meet it Yarrick knew that retribution was close at hand. A solid phalanx of over twenty Imperial Titans was burning a path to Infernus, the thousand year old collossi of steel and adamantium shattering warbands and Gargants with plasma fire and torrents of shells as they came. Their advance drove many Orks back against the guns of the Stygian Bulwark, the withering crossfire reducing their forces to shattered remnants. The attack on the Orks' rear was the chance Yarrick had been waiting for. While the Orkish horde wavered in confusion he sent his carefully husbanded reserves onto the offensive. Regiments of Cadians, Steel Legion armour and Pyran Dragoons hurled themselves against the barbaric foe, driving them back, step by bloody step, into their mountain strongholds.
The Battle of Diabolus - New Epic 40,000 Scenario!
August 7, 2000 - Refight the absolutely monstrous Epic 40,000 battle between the largest war machines the Imperial and Ork forces could field for the Diabolus Factory Complex. The battlefield was too deadly for infantry of any sort, so break out your Titans and Gargants for this one!

I have the Scenario too but it is 350kb.
