I have the doubt if I can charge with one of my units engaging more than one enemy unit in close combat.

For example, if I charge with one of my units that is big enough to engage more than one enemy unit (because there is one next to the other), can I do it, or all the stands of my unit must be engaged with the stands of only one unit?

I can't really see anything on this in the rules to clarify. What do your own players think, or what are you using at the moment when you play?

I would think that if the larger model is left touching two or so smaller ones then the smaller stands should be pinned... and it should be viewed as if the bigger model has pinned them... following normal rules for pinning, obviously.

I think I've used this from time to time but nobody has really made an issue of it or used it consistently in every game for it to be a problem... it just happens sometimes.

You move into base to base contact with a unit or units to engage in close combat.  If your base is big enough to engage multiple enemies (and you are happy to pay the penalty ) you can.  Plenty of examples where knights/titans or even infantry do this in our games.  It is also one of the benefits of the strip bases if you're an "up close and personal" type army.

The case is this:

The ork boyz are in Charge orders and have enough movement to engage both enemy units. Can I divide the unit to combat with the two enemy units or I must charge against only one unit?

quote from rule book:

Outnumbering
Geometry and base size determines if two units are in base-to-base contact, and therefore in Close Combat. As a general rule, as long as half of either model’s base edge touches the other model’s base, they’re in contact... If you’re unsure if there’s room to make contact, roll a D6: 1-3 there is, 4+ there isn’t.

According to the rule and your illustration, I would say that your Ork Boyz stand can engage the 2 bases. A problem with your illustration is the size of the bases. Common infantry bases à 20mm*20mm or 10mm*40mm ;)

I don't think he's asking about charging two bases, but rather two different detachments, e.g. one detachment of SM Tacticals and one of Devastators.

Oups sorry :)

I'd say there are 2 ways of playing this:

1) you can charge both detachments
2) you can charge the 2nd detachment only once all stands in first detachment are engaged in CC (so you'll need to have more stands than first targeted detachment).

We've always played it that you canc harge both detachments as long as the charging unit can maintain formation after the charge is finished.
