Okay, the flying stands for my FW Tau models go together fine. THen i go to put them in the hole in the model... It looks too big... And it is. All the holes for my Custodian and Protectors are too big for the little bit sticky outy bit n the stands pole... if you get my meaning... Its annoying

I clip off the small extension on the top of the flying bases and fit the stem into the hull. Keeps them from snapping on me and lets me keet the ships on the base without glue.

Thought it would be something like that. Just wanted to check first of all. Yeah not gluing something to flying bases is a regular practice of mine.... just to avoid the inevitable snap during transport!!

yeah, I've found if you snip that piece off the likelihood of it ever snapping in transport is significantly reduced.

The FW resin models are so light they'll never snap!

Its not so much to do with weight but with the lack of a good dedicated transport for me to carry them in. Thus any spindle parts on a model will break. It is frustrating in the extreme with my eldar and elves for 40K and Fantasy!

Look into magnets. I just finished my Tau fleet and figuring they had better technology, which manifested itself into a magnet on the bottom of each ship and one on each stand.

Works very well.

Yep, yesterday I glued some magnets to my AI aircrafts. I used 3 x 1 mm magnets but first stuffed some greenstuff inside those holes with some overlap for more adhesion of the magnet to the flyer. And when you clip off the narrow plastic on top such a magnet fits perfectly.

With my tigersharks the holes are too big as well for the narrow part of the stick but cut off fits good enough inside. This obviously means the magnet fits inside the hole and is therefore nearly invisible.

With metal minis this might be not enough, cause they might be a bit too heavy, but with resin it works without problems. Its holding, no problem of falling minis but still easy to seperate. The only possible issue might be, that the plane can rotate relatively easy. Considering Aeronautica Imperialis this leads to the need to adjust the heading, but you can always look on the base of course. As for BFG markings on the base for arks are pretty helpful as well.

Still, I think its the best way for unproblematic transportation.

If it has a flight stand, it needs a magnet.
