This is really good work. The desert Camo is lovely and your converting and painting of the Tyranids is simply awesome.

Thanks a lot, everyone, for your kind comments.

Now let me get this straight. One guy in your group collects, and paints all the armies for that system?!

About the deal, well, yes we have arranged it like this for the moment to get us started instead of everyone having to collect their own army. But one guy has already started on his own Space Marines army, and another one is eyeing the Lost and the Damned list, so I guess this arrangement is just to start things off. On the other hand, another guy paints a lot of LotR stuff so that we all can start playing that system as well. For me, I find the Epic A army list system to be an inspiration, making it possible to build an army and go on to another, unlike other systems where you keep collecting and never finish your armies. I have also begun to assemble the natural enemies of these two armies, and I am already looking forward to paint a Red Scorpions battle force and a proper Ork war horde.

As for the bases, I find that it really adds to the models to put some effort into them. I have browsed this forum, and seen molten rhinos and whatnots, so I find this site a true inspiration.

So, it is time to show some of the progress so far. With the latest additions, both the Steel Legion and Tyranid armies are close to 2500 points, and I have begun pondering upon colour schemes for my Space Marine and Ork armies. I am thinking of Red Scorpions (to go with the Tyranids) and gritty orks with clan elements to face off against the Steel Legion.

But first, some Imperial Guard support:

Hellhound Squadron (with company markings left to do)

Sentinel Squadron (also without markings).

Ogryns with Chimeras and Ratling Snipers

Fire Support Platoon

These models were all a blast and a mixture of old and new. I converted some Cadians to Steel Legion by building great coats and I found some E40K Chimeras (I think) to go with the Ogryns. They have much more attitude than the present SG ones. The Sentinels were a welcome replacement for the Walking Eggs. The Fire Support Autocannons were painted in the vehicle scheme to further tie the infantry with the armour. I want the infantry to stand out a bit from the bases, but in the case of the Ratlings, I wanted them to blend. After all, they are scouting snipers. The Ogryns keep some of the regiment colours on the pants, but I wanted to make them look more dark. I got inspired by the Rulebook Ogryns and did some arm management to avoid the mono-pose look.

The Tyranids have recieved a welcome bio-titan addition, a Hierophant who in a very Tyranid way succeeded to counter-barge through Terminators and a Tactical detachment in a prolonged assault before falling to support Warhound fire.

Wow! The bio-titan is a great piece of inspired painting. It's reasons like this that I lurk in the 6mm section.

Fantastic armies.

I really like the idea of having different people take responsibility for the collecting and painting of different systems.

It lets everyone do the bits they enjoy and generally means you are going to get games once you have been to all the effort.

I play with a heap of people that insist on having their own armies if they will play a game which means I can't convince them to get a game of epic in (despite having several armies) without convincing them to fork out for their own entire army.

I really like the Broodlord!  I've seen the idea floated a few times, but I always thought it wouldn't work because the familiars are too big compared to the regular infantry.  But you've pulled it off.  Gorgeous painting.

Both your armies are looking superb. The level of detail is fantastic.

Its really interesting how painting standards have improved since E:A, or perhaps since E:40K. With smaller armies and more expensive minis, people make their very best effort on the small number of pieces they have rather than as it used to be in the 2ed days, when everyone had massive amounts of stuff, but noone painted anywhere near the kind of level were seeing in these pics right here. So things werent always better back in those days...

Anyway great work, keep on going  :agree:

Well, time for a small update while Taccomm is up.

I have painted some bio-artillery for my Tyranids and am currently working on super-heavies for the Imperial Guards.

Synapse Node (old broken Macragge piece pimped with a 40K Devourer gun):

Dactylis

Biovores (I love these models):

An updated army-shot (minus Genestealers who were busy infiltrating my Guards):

Thanks for dropping by,
/Fredmans

I took some WIP pictures of my Shadowsword Super-heavy Tank Company.

I have some highlights and markings still left to do. I also consider adding name plaques: "Vigilant", "Relentless" and "Indomitable" respectively.

Shadowswords (the darker one represents a Commissar):

Thanks for dropping in,
