Sorry to hear that Zap but I can't feel any other way than the way I feel. I find that constant negative criticism on almost all my threads or replies to be... abrasive after a time. Am I really that wrong all the time?

It is interesting that you ask for feedback both for and against your ideas, but when I explain the rationale behind a design that you mentioned:

It felt to me more like a defensive remark, that's my own perspective. It looked to me that you had picked up on a small irrelevant item and pick at it unnecessarily. I didn't mean to bash your own ideas or question their origin. I was more concerned with trying to explain mine.

you reply with a multi-para response on how obstructionist I'm being.  Apologies...I'll shut up then.  Enjoy your thread
More helpfulness. That is a shame (no sarcasm in this remark), but as you wish.

im not touching that arguement with a 50 foot thermal lance, but constructive critisism is a subjective term and i think this is a misunderstanding guys.

as for my idea of deepstriking the bugger to a location close to friendlies... any thoughts?

I know, you are correct.

I wondered about some sort of dropped on target idea too but I think this would be too powerful. The EA guys who came up with the idea stayed away from this idea too... even though they are dropped by ship I think it's more of a slow decent than a combat drop and this would leave it exposed to fire while it lands.

Lord of Battle and Plague Tower all have slow movement too but this is traded off against their toughness and combat ability. I think the Abattoir fits in here.

reasonable. how about using soul counters as one use void shields like the chaos gift solution?

if its a soul draining device its so much more flavourfull to have them mean something imo. otherwise its simply another heavy thingy with fancy fluff but no real impact on game mechanics. i still feel that the 15cm movement is more fitting for something that massive.

Yeah, counters are always fun. That could be a possibility. I like them for Tyranids. Sort of like wounds...

How about... If infantry in close combat fail the morale roll they are automatically removed? Consumed without resistance as it were... The Abattoir is then empowered by the influx and get a one turn bonus too its... Caf? (as you suggested earlier) or armour/toughness? Lasts until the next Orders phase?

20cm on EA stats, so I thought it would be ok to transfer over unchanged but I could have got that wrong, perhaps 15cm is more in keeping with NetEpic.

You may try the Kotrin Unofficial Necron army list: http://www.stephane.info/download/Necron_Army_Book.pdf

Damn, how did I forget this... I read it ages ago and PM'd Kotrin and told him how much I liked it too.

Thanks Scream, I'll print it out and have another look through.

fine list there scream but he dossent really add that much new and interesting to the force as is.

i could see that solution warhead, but i like mine better :p necrons are more of a defensive force in my book and a soul boosted caf borderlines on "blood rage" or the like.
the havester has time on its side, and a slow and methodical harvest would fit in better imo. " all power to shields! lets drain them dry and move on."

:vD  :vD Yeah it is a bit Khorny I suppose... (sorry for pun) Defensive? Necrons?.. Hmm, not sure about that. Do you mean more of a ranged weapon army than close combat?

Slow and near unstopable looming terror it is then.

Edit: If not a stats bonus for absorbing infantry then what?

:oo:  Ah, soo, if the Abattoir is in a given range to the C'tan, say 25cm then it can relay the extra power and allow a +1 bonus for any Living Metal roll the C'Tan needs to make. If no C'Tan within range it may be good to boost the Abattoir's Living Metal heal roll too. I like this idea.
