Hi all.

with my Black Legion being mostly done (barring a lick of paint) now, I'm looking at starting to plan (read keep an eye out on ebay and such, until the painting is done) my next Epic army, and have settled on the Lost and the Damned. Mods if this is in the wrong place feel free to move.

As I currently play the majority of my games at the local G/W store, I'm restricted to using citadel/forgeworld models (and the occasional kitbash) to represent my armies so it was with some nervous glances that I stared reading the LatD list and begun cobbling my first 3k together.

The Land Transporter is of some interest to me, as I want to represent more of a low-tech army of Cultists and Mutants with some Daemon Engine support. So, hoping to find something usable in the online store I came across the Seigfried tanks, which look basic enough without looking Orky. The question I have is does anyone have any of these, and is the gun a separate piece?

I also think that WM Ghouls might work well as Plague Zombies, again has anyone tried this?

Lastly (for now at least) does anyone have anything that they use for big mutants? I have a dislike of the Ogryn model, so if there is a decent alternative that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I use the Seigfried and the Land Crawlers that come with the Siegemaster Artillery, mixed with the occasional Ork Battlewagon to make a rag-tag looking Cultist force. The turret on the Seigfried is a separate piece.

I did try this, but the WM models look a big big compared to Epic models, so it does look a little off... of course, Plague Zombies are *quite* off, so it may work for you.

Because of their larger size, a lot of the Warmaster models can be used for Big Mutants or you can search eBay for the old plastic Chaos Troll and Minotars that used to be part of the Epic Chaos Range.

Hope that helps with your corruption!

What I personally use (or have seen used) which would be allowed in a GW-

Transporters - Siegfrieds, FW Salamanders, Old ork wagons

Big mutants - old chaos minotaurs

Zombies - IG mixed with plaguebearers

I definitely agree that EW has great Plague Zombies. :agree:

If you must have GW models, try using mixed spares off any force.  You could give them a thin PVA coating and then just paint up and dip the whole force consistently to give it a uniform goopy undead feel.

For big mutants, Ogryns are spot on mixed in with some trolls/minotaurs 3 to a base.  Considering you pretty much get Ogryns by default with any IG for a Coven, you might as well use them.  I've been thinking of putting on some Vraksian-style hoods for my Ogryns with Magic Sculpt to give tham a bit more chaos flavor.

Besides the old Epic:SM Chaos models you mention, I think the Warmaster Trolls would be quite fitting as big mutants. Although it depends what base you use... could be challenge to mount three Trolls on one base. Plus they cost more than the old Minotaurs, though the latter are harder to find.

Speaking of Minotaurs... if you use the plastic Beastmen from the current GW Chaos sprue as mutants, the Minotaurs would be perfect as their big brothers.

That's exactly what I do.  *laugh*

Mutants - What everyone else said.

Tranports - The old "Skullwagon" plastic Ork battlewagons are cheap and are more the Chaos skull-and-spikes style than Ork anyway.

Zombies - I used a mix of all kinds of models.  Also, I started saving the pieces from every infantry conversion I did and glued them together to make appropriately warped/mutated/damaged zombies.  As far as GW rules, most stores I've been in say the models can have non-GW pieces as long as they are majority GW, so you could probably mix in a few outside models on the infantry stands.
