There's a Dilbert cartoon where some director or something has the motto: "It's better to ask forgiveness than to seek permission."

Alice hangs him from the roof by his ankles.

I received an Email from FW today stating that they plan to refund me the cost of my Firestorms by way of apology and when better quality ones are available they will be sent to me.

The FW manager called their condition "terrible" and "unacceptable."

So hey guys, have a problem with your stuff? Take pictures and show them. Make sure to call them also.

I'm glad FW have renewed my faith in their customer service.

I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea about production costs or how much FW pays their employees, but surely isn't it more cost effective to make sure the order is correct and that minis are undamaged/cast well before shipping an order?

When has GW ever been about "best practices"?  *LAUGH*

Never mind their problems with epic - I can't believe any of the FW management survived their debacle after apocalypse. How they couldn't predict that after the launch of a supplement to encourage the use of vehicles and war engines that demand for those items would increase is beyond me. I'm sure the amount of sales they lost when people cancelled after waiting for months or who never made the order because of the delays ooutstrips all epic sales.

This is how I imagine it to be... (welcome to my world)

"Right minions, we can buy in really good stuff that everyone will love, the down side is it will cost to produce at this quality... or we can buy in really crud stuff that only some people will complain about and then pocket more profit. I'm for the second option but what do you think?"

"Boss, you can't possibly be suggesting we cop out on the product, I for one could not, in all conscience be a part of such a..."

*Buzzz* (Trap Door opens below current speaker who promptly disappears down a hole... shortly a far off splash is heard.)

"Sooo, anyone else have a problem with my idea?.."

"Eh... no."

"Yay! Meeting adjourned, last one in the pubs a big girls blouse and Jenkins you're buying."

The variation in quality of the FW Epic items is really quite puzzling. Some items show impressive molding and casting techniques, others are quite sloppy.

For example, the individual barrels on Hydras or the AI defense guns are usually bent. This is caused simply by removing the items too soon from the mold, when the resin is still flexible. Just waiting an additional 30 minutes for those molds to finish curing could solve these issues.

I spoke with FW again over the phone today so that they could reimburse my card.

We talked about the FW Warhounds. He says that the molding problem with those has been sorted and mine went out today.

The Firestorms are being looked into further. I have the feeling they are going to get someone to go through stock and hand pick parts that are cast decently just so I can get them asap.

I also got the feeling that they are looking into a permanent solution to fix the problem. He seemed quite embarrassed over the ordeal, or rather his boss did.

We also talked abit about the Falcons. I told him I had spoke with a couple of people who are also waiting on theirs. He said that the stock was delayed, but I should receive them within a month, possibly less (so keep making due with your proxies a little while longer guys   )

Looks like they have improved their customer service since I dealt with them.  I too sent them pictures of all of the poorly cast figures I was sent and was eventually given the answer I noted earlier in this topic.

They weren't very sympathetic after the first call.

Glad to see you got a good result out of them, Malakai.

Why do I get this weird feeling that my Falcons arriving is going to coincide almost exactly with my running out of enthusiasm for my Eldar army, thus ensuring that I never actually get them painted?

Don't say that Axel. Your Eldar are some of the best I've seen in a long time!

A little update on my "Miscasts FW Saga." Although the guy assured me that the Warhound Titan's carapace had "been sorted" I received almost the exact problem. I'm not even gonna bitch about it to them now. I took someone's lead from here (Vaaish I believe) and just tried carving and reshaping the detail with my exacto knife. It came out ok I suppose, but I'm disappointed that they said they had fixed the problem and didn't.

After hearing the news that fellow forum member Axel Fendersson had received his Eldar Falcons that were back ordered for so long I called them up after a week or so to ask about my own. At first they told me that they still hadn't received any Falcons yet and they were on back order. After I explained to them that someone I knew who had also been waiting on his to arrive had received his order they put me on hold then recanted their story explaining that they had received a limited number of them only and I would hopefully receive mine within a couple of weeks (what I was told a month ago).

The Firestorms that I complained about so much were credited to my account (as I said earlier) but only after over a week went by and still no activity on my card's account. Again I had to call the U.K. and remind them to do it.

When I called this last time to find out the status of the Falcons (and the rest of my order) the Firestorms were taken off my order. Despite an email saying they would refund the cost and ship out new Firestorms and assuring their quality this time the customer service guy had no idea. Again I was put on hold until he worked things out.

My last bit is a Vampire Raider that, it seems, all it took was for me to call them once again and ask to be shipped. I don't know if they were waiting to ship it with the other back order items or what, but at this point I was a little irritated. They had the Raider there, they just felt like hanging onto it a little while longer I suppose. Anyway that shipped out and I should be receiving that on monday.

I don't want to even think about my phone bill for all of this. One thing is certain though, I will never EVER buy Epic FW miniatures again.

On a different note I received a shockingly well cast lot of Eldar SG miniatures from GW recently. After having dealt with their Marine stuff to this point the Eldar stuff could almost pass for a proper Citadel miniature.

I do have a question though for anyone who has bought Shining Spears. Is it normal for all of the sprues except one to be Exarchs? I got that in one blister pack, called and complained (yes I know I can just clean their head easily, but the pack is two stands short of a full squad and I'm pissed at GW now) had replacements sent out, then got the exact same contents as before! Anyone need a spare SS exarch?  :sus:

Anyway, rant over.

I remember at least two forum members having the same Shining Spear Exarch problem.

Yeah. I think the Shining Spears packing issue if fairly common.
