Very cool.  I think it's a much better idea for G/W to emphasize the skirmish aspect of its 28mm lines (rather than the mass-battle aspect).  The cool thing about GW's 28mm figures is that Sergeant Huon can be painted up to look like Sergeant Huon.

You also have to imagine that a $45 or $60 Space Hulk starter set will be a good deal less recession-sensitive than a $160 doombanehammerlord.

All of a sudden I'm really happy I lost an ebay auction for a 2nd edition Space Hulk.  Those blasted things are going for upwards of $200 US.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/

Board Game Geek has a lot of space hulk info, see the files sections.

I lost my old space hulk stuff except advanced space crusade which I still have most of the stuff for.

My intention is too create my own 3D times and create my own version of the game with whatever miniatures I have.

Oooo, Oooo, happy times. GW doing something of worth! I wonder if the board sections will be produced in plastic, Mighty Empires style. That'd be brilliant, the ability to build your own spacehulk and style it.

Also, I wonder if we'll see the return of genestealer hybrids as well? Good times!

Thinking about this some more (and if it is released and turns out to be a success) it could be a template for a re-release of Warhammer Quest. Another game that goes for ridiculous amounts on fleecebay.

Rumor has it, the tiles will be plastic.  I do not speak to the validity of said rumors.

While this would be awesome, I am not getting too excited just yet. Knowing GW, this will come out at about 150% above reasonable price and with rules that are redesigned and not even as good as second edition. That said, I would probably pick up a set for the components alone (you can never have enough board pieces).

Besides, this rumour comes up approximately once a year, and has done for at least four years.

Pure awesome if its true... count me in!
Skirmish games are a big winner in my eyes; snappy but fun rules, enough interesting flavour cos you deal with so few pieces, and small squads to lavish attention on.

I think I still have the old WD articles for standard Space Marines, Guardsmen, hybrids, and so on in Space Hulk. Could be time to dig those out--Space Hulk was a great ruleset for very small-scale indoor skirmishes (so fast).  :))

Current additional rumours....

To stop this box eating into current sales of figures, this is rumoured to be pre-painted (unlikely) and/or at a different scale (15mm? More likely).

Ugh, that is such a cop-out if true. This could be used as a brilliant entry into 40k in that you only need a small number of miniatures that can be painted up and are compatible with the bigger system.
