I'm kind of torn on the skimmer tanks; I like both concepts. If I had to choose just one, I'd want the split hull version (and a similar hull design for the maint-bot, regardless of the final version chosen).

And maybe those excellent VTOL designs can be submitted as a different project for WF (part of a "line" of items to go with the hover tank now up for pre-order)?

I have a second vote for the catamaran-style hulls!  Those are excellent!

That's it!

I have had enough of reading this thread and not getting any....

So I just pre-ordered 10 sprues for myself....

I placed it through the first time with just my details and left the field blank for how many I wanted. Then I just back-spaced it, reloaded and sent it again - no email confirmation this time - hope it got through

Love the work JBR

Update: I noticed the number of production did not change. Anyone know if this is normal?

Cheers..

Regarding the deathbots, have you accounted for the single plane of molding?

Yuppers.  Machined molds are a lot more unforgiving with undercuts than rubber, but it can be worked around.  There will be a "shadow" behind the rifle when it's held across the chest, but I think there will be multiple poses of the standard trooper.

Best,
JBR

Here's a screen shot of the Deathbot in progress.  The dime is for scale.  For you overseas types, a dime is a coin about 17.78mm across.

Some folks didn't want VTOLs, so I did up some hovertanks for the
deathbots, as well as a maintenance droid...kinda hard to make a fearsome repair droid, but it's well-equipped for close combat.

Here are the hovertanks, one proposal with catamaran hulls, the other
with spearhead hulls...

Bear in mind, these are just rough pencils, maybe with a little bit
of photochopping. The end results will be much slicker.

Best,
JBR

Will the Deathbot be more organic (aka more rounded) like the pencil drawing by the time you're done with it?

As to the hovertanks, I like the catamaran hulls. I'm not sure how much room is going to be on the 4x6 sprue though for them. If it comes down to getting all the infantry on there or the tanks, I'd personally prefer the infantry on this one and having the tanks on a separate sprue.

If you're taking votes... Catamarans all the way!  Not only do they look more dynamic overall, but the hulls could be reversed from what seems to be the intended mounting so the turret(/torso mounting position) is on the front of the hull and the bulk of the vehicle trails behind.

I like the maintenance bot as well.  It looks tick-like.  Personally, I think that's cool as it is, but that basic arachnid kind of look would be a great conversion platform for anyone who wanted to create a more spider- or scorpion-like look.

Dadgum! I find myself quite excited about these.
