They entered from outside it. At least from what I have read. They have to pass through the Mars defense ring in order to get into their target. They yse shrouds to do so and demonstrate that imps are not that great. Heh 
And BTW, I found a weird number there (rereading the shroud story); they throw 120 attack craft at them during several hours. Dunno about you, but given the usual numbers in GW's fluff (millions of dudes if not Billions) I think they left one or 2 zeros out of there. Weird that the Mars fleet can only manage to rise up to 120 attack craft considering they can use surface airports as well.... I would have said 5,000 aircraft not 120 would have fitted the overly overgrown numbers better

I just wish that their left departmet knew what the right department is doing and vice versa. And that both would keep the marketing department in check.
