I thought that Dante WAS dead. Didnt he die and get incarcerated into a dreadnought a while ago. Some large battle. Might even have been the second war for Armageddon. |
...News to me... I thought Dante was still around- Tycho died on Armageddon, but I'm sure more would have been written in WD etc, if it had been Dante that died.. he is Chapter Master after all!

Hi!
I think the fluff should move forward, the emperor should die and the star child reborn. The imperium should be invigorated with a new emperor and smite their enemies. The eldar should finally ally with humanity and eliminate chaos with the emperor reborn.
I wont hold my breath for any of it, but it would be cool to see them do it.

Nope, Dante is alive and kicking (some alien butt).
Tycho died on Armageddon, the recent battle, but he wasn't put into a dread either.
I can't think of any B.A. character that has been put into a dread off hand.
The Imperium attack all the time. Trouble is they choose the weaklings in the galaxy like the bullies they are. They picked on the Tau, until they realised they actually could stand up for themselves.

Sorry, yes there is. Moriar, painted black like death company with 2 Dreadnought CCW,one with a heavy flamer and one with a melta gun.
That's probably the character C.S. was thinking about. I cant remember his fluff off hand. I think it goes something along the lines of,
Captain of so-and-so company, mortally wounded in battle - encarserated to carry on the fight, suffers the 'visions', survives (due to being sustained by the sarcophagus).

Hi!
I think GW uses the Imperium as the maintainer of the "status quo". They are the only ones with sufficient resources and manpower to actually erradicate whole races if they wanted to., but with a corpse as their supreme leader and a government that is second to none in inefficiency, its hard for them to coordinate anything serious. Add to that all the in-fighting and the usual cut throat politics and you have a royal mess.

I certainly cant see the Imperium ever going on the offensive. They are just too unorganised and arguementative. You would need to be extremely motivated for the long war it would end up being, and be numerous to take all the casualties.
It would take someone like.....Orks!!!

-In Gaunts Ghosts the whole Sabbat Crusade is a semi-offensive, to retake the Sabbat worlds and defend those that had not fallen.. As Tom mentioned, Solar Macharius is the only great "expansionist" I can think of in GW fluff tho...

A few year back G/W released an IG Command figure of that name. Had a gold breast plate and Roman style helmet, IIRC. And the model was even a little taller than the rest of the IG troopers. From what I can remember of the fluff, he was very Caesar-like ...
