Hey Bunny, I love your work on the Deathguard. I only wish I could do them so well.

I find they do get a bit lost in the base though. I don't know if it's just my eyes but I can't see those lovely stands as well as I would like because the sand distracts my gaze from the models. I'm not a person who knows a lot about painting or basing but that's how it looks to me. I'll just go and   now.

The models are nice, but Warhead is right. You should paint the sand on their bases.

I see what you guys mean, but I really liked the bases on these... It looks very chaos - very Nurgle I should say!

What they said,
Great work on the marines, but if you paint the ground a dark color they will pop up and will look better IMHO.
Dark brown will be a good color.

Maybe even a quick Devlan Mud (or similar) wash to the base would bring them out nicely. Thanks for posting, I suspect they look better in real life anyway so it would be for photographic purposes, if you're happy with them as is.

I understand what you say about the basing and a better camera/picture would help.........The basing is done tat way as the world my Epic forces are fighting over is a 'sand' world so all basing will be the same, see my Guard units.

One it's easy and effective, two I have a 24 2x2ft gaming tiles with lovely sand terrain on one side and not so good 'grass land' terrain on the other. So sand won and hopefully the armies will match the terrain and the extra terrain pieces I build/aquire will all match.

Better pictures once I get home hopefully.

Thanks for the comments though.

Next up a company of Space Marines, plus support.  It will be my take on Doom Eagles

When you glue a rock found in the garden to a piece of board and stick it on your table what does it looks like?

It looks like a rock from the garden!  :p

All terrain should be painted not because it's prettier or changes its color, but because it helps reinforce the sense of scale.

Obviously it's your models and you can of course do what you like, but I try and paint everything that goes onto my table otherwise it looks like it belongs in the "real" world, and not a miniature world.
