Right there with ya, especially since I have on my painting table at the moment:

24 Clan Elementals
48 NAC Power Armor
40 DRM Industrial Infantry
16 DRM Snipers
20 DRM Scouts

...and another 220 E/W infantry in transit to me right now... :oo:  :sigh:

Frankly, painting is great.  It means I scored some time to sit and I'm actually at home. :))

The bit I really hate right now is getting the minis to actually fit in the round depressions on a standard 20x20 base without too much trouble.  It used to be so darn easy and now it seems like I need to widen the diameter of every_single_ well before those wonky 6mm buggers will fit... :evil:

Why not just trim the bases a bit?  Cuz, how the heck do you *widen* those holes?

GW made the bases of the newer Epic infantry *slightly* bigger... as you've discovered.

I don't really 'hate' painting anything in particular, but what causes the most anxiety in me is looking at some sort of gubbin on a human tank and thinking "I should really know what this is, and how it would look, but I don't, and I'm afraid L-4 will mock me if he sees it painted wrong" and so forth.

Fear not, Master of the Forge amphib mammal man !  I'm here to educate and assist the masses ... I don't expect the average gamer who never served or spent as much time around AFVs, Choppers, etc. as I did to know the all details ! 8v)  But  anyone who paints their stuff like it belongs at Disneyland ... will be mocked at the very least !  :evil: :)

GW made the bases of the newer Epic infantry *slightly* bigger... as you've discovered.

Trimming the base of the minis actually ended up being more work than just running a hobby knife around the edge of the well.  I started with a Dremel, but it wasn't faster because of cleanup etc.

It's odd because some of the newer models will fit right in without any trimming and others are out by at least 1mm. :sus:
