Eventually, however, investors will return to reevaluating the fundamentals behind the US$.

Translate: People are going to realize that the U.S. is bankrupt and won't be able to drop the dollar fast enough.  It'll be like a three legged cat trying to bury a turd on a marble floor.

I wasn't going to put so fine a point on it...

And yes... when it breaks, it breaks hard, though I'd guess the thing is that the US$ has tough skin -- there's a lot of central banks still invested in the US$ as a reserve currency.

The problem is finding another currency -- the rise in oil in early 2008 was tightly correlated to the falling dollar.  Problem was, the physical value of oil is still dependent on the dollar.  A lot of speculators got hammered for dropping the dollar too soon.

World ecconomics definitely has impacted how I purchase things over the last few years.  The Australian dollar was really strong over the last year making buying things from the US heaps cheaper than buying it in Australia even when you paid huge postage that most US sites charge.  Now it has dropped and the days of dirt cheap foreign purchases are over for us.

I've noticed I was selling a lot of miniatures off e-bay to Australia.  Now working on sending out my first package to Hong Kong and Spain.

I feel for people in the UK, though.

I spent the summer travelling the states at $2=£1. It was great, everything was horribly cheap. Basically the day I got back the pound collapsed. Guess I'm not going travelling again for a while...

I was heartened to note that Forgeworld decided to extend the 2.5% cut in VAT to us foreign types as well as the locals.  That would be extremely generous....EXCEPT THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE CHARGING US THE FRIKKIN VAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!

Rant over, normal programming to resume.

I have been ordering lots of *things* from Maelstrom, now that Sterling has fallen. Ah, boy does it feel good to have premium UK tin/lead/some alloy in basically Euro=Pound.

Flames of War what is normally quite expensive game is totally affortable now (when bought from UK).

I even might order something from ForgeWorld now...

I must say that low value of GBP has the following impact for me, in Poland.
Back in 97/98 when epic40k was released and sold, I had to pay 35PLN for 5 pound blister pack/plastic box of infantry. Now I have to pay 12 pounds, approx 50 PLN for twice as much infantry (only for Eldar/Chaos unfortunately), and 4 tanks instead of 3, which makes it almost as expensive as it used to be. FW stuff is cheaper than ever, and one package worth of 250 GBP stuff is knocking at my door tomorrow!
I will be ordering 2 more times from GWUK, to buy as much as possible while GBP is cheap, then I am done. Its sad that most good epic40k era stuff is being sold on US ebay though ...

you lot are all really depressing.

I'm in the UK, and so GW. Buisness as usual, at least in the world of little model men.
