I;ll have you know that it's been 3 layers of exacting drybrushing followed by individually highlighted, and inked details for the past several years Mr Warhead ;-)...that's gonna change with my tyranid army though; i'd like to try turfing out an army in less than the hundreds of hours it usually takes me so i'm gonna try testors and dips...

As for brightly painted marines; i view them as the kind of 'knights' (albeit, savage, nazi, indoctrinated, "kill the women and children because the boss said so" types) of the 41st millenium and - what with being the heralds of the Emperors wrath and all; they quite like to stand out!

I hate painting Stompas, because I'm painting Stompas inbetween reading posts on Epicoms right now.    Just had to redo a whole lot of yellow shoulder pads, cos my Stompa mob was looking like a swim class of fat kids wearing 'water wings'...

Infantry bases! There's nothink I loathe more...  

Apart from that... Hm. Dunno... Possibly Eldar Aspect Warriors. I've yet to paint a type of aspects that I was completely happy with, though the problem may well have been that my washes didn't come out right, leaving the minis looking a bit murky.

funiily enough i quite like painting infantry...especially orks as you get to mix and match so many types of boyz on one stand and do shed loads of concerting of heavy weapons and then add all those fiddly little details, etc, etc etc, it's when things are so damned plain that i get bored; thus the rhino's!

Oh, it is not so much the infantry itself, as the bases. Just hen you've finished painting up your company of guardsmen everything has to be drowned in pva glue, sand and paint with a dire risk of messing up the miniature you just spent an afternoon painting up

I think Eldar aspect warriors were the worse.  You get so few per box that you can't really develop the rythm of painting them like you do on gaurdians.  So maybe not the worse, but I just didn't feel accomplished after painting them.

I don't really 'hate' painting anything in particular, but what causes the most anxiety in me is looking at some sort of gubbin on a human tank and thinking "I should really know what this is, and how it would look, but I don't, and I'm afraid L-4 will mock me if he sees it painted wrong" and so forth.

Heh! I know what you mean. I have a lot of moments like that when painting almost any type of miniature. Like WTF is this supposed to be?!

Ill second this. Right now i hate painting eldar jetbikes, cause there are so many of them!!! Irritatingly these are more or less the last pieces before the whole army is all done.

That's why you always do the bases *FIRST*!

It's much easier to clean up a smudged base than a smudged mini.
