But thats not a problem with marines is it? I mean large formations.

With this list you could have a formation of *eighteen* fearless units in a single formation... that's pretty large to me!  *laugh*

That's going to be tough to shift.

Alright but, is it really worth the cost of that formation? Too many things to be effective. Besides, Rhinos shouldn't be fearless in my opinion.

Have no fear (get it?  :;):  ), I am updating this list so that only the basic beserker/chosen infantry and dreadnaughts will be fearless - basically only the units that are WE Marine-based. All other vehicles and infantry will lose it including rhinos and LRs & Preds etc. I will most likely make it that up to 2 upgrades max from the list can be attached to a retinue.

So not to worry Chroma there will be no fearless mega-retinue  :agree:

Yes, all World Eaters are technically "bezerkers" to some degree, due to a combination of practice of lobotomisation and psycho-inducive surgery and the fact that they're a legion of Khorne-worshipping nutters. That doesn't mean they are necessarily all frothing at the mouth and unable to do anything but run screaming at the nearest enemy with a chain-axe.

Personally I'd agree that Fearless should be limited in this list. Really, I'm not even sure why Nurgle or Khorne marines should be Fearless in the first place, 40K rules notwithstanding. Immunity to psychology always was Slaanesh's area. Tzeench muscle in on that as the Thousand Sons are mindless (and thus Fearless) automata.

Don't forget that you can adopt "Stubborn" (i.e. receive saves against BM/hackdown hits) if desired for a "halfway" position, and World Eaters Bezerkers don't need to be absolutely identical to Black Legion Bezerkers (although it probably is a good idea for the sake of reducing confusion).

"Stubborn" might be a good compromise for lists like this.  I like it!

So, if we give WE berserkers stubborn instead of fearless, we have to give them something extra to catch up with the BL berzerkers... CC3+ Extra attacks (+1) anyone?  :whistle:

Since i've got a lot of berzerkers o juggernauts, i've made up a new unit to make them more colorful. Until now I used them as bikes.

Type Speed Armour CC FF
Infantry 20cm 4+ 2+ 6+

Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Chain axe BaseContact AssaultWeapon -
Bolt pistol (15cm) SmallArms -
Juggernaut BaseContact AssaultWeapon ExtraAttacks(+1)

Notes: Fearless (perhaps stubborn), Reinforced armour, mounted.

PTS - 600 for 8 stands plus lord.

I understand that for game-play purposes it might be undesirable to have an army of all Berzerkers, but if you want to keep this army fluffy that's exactly what it should be.

The World Eaters are no longer a Legion. They are broken now and rove around as mobs. Maybe a way to represent this (and to address my earlier concern about the monetary costs of buying a large formation of Berzerker models) is to keep each formation 4-6 unit strong.

That would cut down on the number of Fearless troops in a formation. That and maybe consider dropping Fearless from tank units like Rhinos and Destroyers and making them Stubborn instead.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that all of these variant Epic lists were created to support flavor and background first and foremost right? When we start sacrificing background for game play I think maybe we're missing the point.

That's only my humble opinion. You guys are the pros.

I agree that most of an army shouldn't have the fearless rule, so I support the stubborn variant.

That's an interesting thread. I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised by the poll results. Maybe I'm the one who is "missing the point."

Still if background is a distant second to game-play I have to wonder why even bother with a list like the World Eaters? Surely it would be easier to invent a Legion that heavily leans towards Khorne without completely succumbing to him.
