There's method to this madness!
I just knew there was a reason for me painting the armour in desert cammo.
Looking closely at those DRM Industrial Infantry I believe my beloved Tallarns have risen again!  8v)

(They are probably quite perfect for them Tanith's First-and-Only, Gaunt's Ghosts, with their cammo cloaks.) :agree:

Yeah, most seem to do. But where're their cloaks?  :oo:
I just let go of the ones I had, should perhaps have kept them to mix with cultists and mutants...?

I figure they left them in the rear, so the cloaks wouldn't get caught on the trees and bushes they are hiding in !     The logic comes from years of running thru the jungle, forests, and woodlands of the world !   :))  I did put a Commissar on the command stand - Gaunt himself !!  :vD

It's hard to tell from the pic what kind of detail those models have, but they might be cool. It'll be interesting to see them painted up!

As a thumb rule Malakai they're always better than GW's "characters".

Well GW has some pretty nice character packs. Admittedly sometimes they can be bit hit or miss.

I find the problem with using minis from other systems (Exodus Wars etc) is not so much that the minis aren't good enough, but finding something that makes an appropriate substitution.

Personally I detest Ratlings, so if your guys in cloaks work out it would be an alternative to me chopping up my Eldar Rangers.

I'm curious about the base you've chosen though. Wouldn't it look better to use the old style square bases or even the new rectangle ones?

Good job L4!  :agree:

As for snipers I think my favourite mix is DRM's Snipers and Scouts.
One each of them makes three for a Ø20mm base.

As for bases...
* Parade ground 2x2+1 is out as they are hopelessly conform, in all directions. But the are a fairly good base as such when it comes to moving it around etc.
* Line infantry, five abreast, is nice for looks. But only works for plastic. When using pewter that base becomes top heavy and unstable. It usually also harder to really get them long bases to fit into terrain on the battlefield.
* 30x20 gives you some freedom to place your models and a good playing piece to booth.

That sniper on the ground looks great! My first instinct is to want to try and model a cloak around him, but it'd be a shame to cover all of that nice detail up. Is the guy next to him a spotter or something?

Spotter or comm technician (vox operator).

L4, where did you get Baroness Velvitt from?

I use the old Mk1 Plastic Guard (cadians) for my snipers; the old 'long-las' works quite well i reckon; but my guard army is meant to be based on a Forge World so that tech look might not work for others.

Yeah, one of the charms of the IG , for me, is the Great Coat infantry. Man I really love those guys. Of course there's nothing wrong with the old Cadians, I have fond memories of them kicking my ass in Space Marine.

I don't know if you've seen them MoK but Chaos & Evil or Evil & Chaos (he switches them up) did a superb Cadian army. If you haven't checked it out I'd recommend doing so. I'd also be really interested in seeing your Cadians.

The Eldar Scouts do cut up nicely into pretty good Snipers but how many snipers fire while standing up? I like the look of those DRM prone snipers though.

If I was going to use the Guard stands to make a sniper I would start with the E40K crouching loader dude or the comms guy and see if I could stick a gun like looking thing on someplace. Just a thought.

Ratlings Suck. I'm keeping mine for my Squats.

Ratlings on a stick? Wouldn't that then be "I'm keeping mine for my orcs."?

Apart from that... Watch your (snail-)mail!
